Narrative:

During the early morning hours of 5/18/15, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office received information that a potential threat was made against Monte Vista Middle School. Sheriff’s Investigators immediately began to follow up on the possible threat.

School Administration requested that law enforcement conduct a search of the school while students were contained in a safe area outside. Monte Vista Middle School staff made parent notifications and they were informed their children were safe but they had the option to pick-up their student. After the search was completed, and the school was deemed safe, students returned to class.

Throughout the entire process both school staff and law enforcement officials made sure students and faculty were safe. All persons involved in this incident have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
