Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 05-04-15 at 9:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Verducci Drive on a report of a loud explosion coming from the residence. On Wednesday, 05-06-15 at 11:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to the First National Bank on Mission Street on a report of an attempted bank robbery. The reporting party said a customer handed the teller a note demanding $20,000. When the teller told him he didn’t have enough money in the account, the subject said “Do I have to jump over the counter to get it?” The teller asked the subject if this was a robbery, and the suspect got frustrated and left in a silver Honda. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and arrested the 32-year Daly City resident for attempted robbery. He also was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia (two glass pipes) and methamphetamine.

On Friday, 05-08-15 at 2:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Denny’s restaurant on a report of an adult male throwing a table. Upon arrival, officers noticed two very agitated, angry males who both had bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of alcohol emanating from their persons. Officers detained both suspects in handcuffs and placed one subject in the patrol vehicle. The other subject was yelling out profanities and broke the spot light to the patrol vehicle. Officers arrested the 33-year old South San Francisco resident for vandalism and for public intoxication. The other subject was released.

On Friday, 05-08-15 at 9:51 p.m., Officer Ben Wagnon conducted a pedestrian stop on a subject in front of the Motorville Motel on the 7100 block of Mission Street. The subject appeared to walk with an unsteady gait, and the officer thought the subject was possibly intoxicated. The officer asked the subject if he lived in the motel, and the subject said he did. The officer then saw the subject turn his body away from him and toss something under his vehicle. Officer Wagnon then handcuffed the subject and retrieved the plastic bag that was thrown under the vehicle. The bag contained several bindles of heroin. The 27-year old subject has a criminal history for possessing and selling narcotics. The subject was then arrested for possessing heroin with the intent to sell.

On Friday, 05-08-15 at 11:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a structure fire on the 400 block of Vista Grande Avenue. The fire spread to two neighboring houses. The victim said the door hit her and the suspect seemed surprised to see her and then fled on foot westbound on King Drive. The victim suffered an injury to her foot by the door and was bleeding. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 45-50 years old, 5’6”, stocky build, thick curly black hair, clean shaven, wearing a long black trench coat and blue jeans.

Officer Lucas Taylor and Officer Shane Hart then searched the surrounding blocks and were able to pinpoint the signal to a residence on the 100 block of St. Michaels Court. Officers peeked into the mail slot and saw the vehicle parked in the garage. They asked the owner if there was a 2008 Lexus in the garage, and owner said his friend asked him if he could store it in his garage for a few days. An investigation revealed at the owner of the vehicle, a 27-year old San Francisco resident, intentionally concealed the vehicle with an intent to defraud his insurance company by falsely reporting the vehicle stolen. Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
