Details:
On 05/09/2015 at approximately 9:58 pm, Gilroy Police Officers responded to the 6300 Block of Miller Avenue for a report of a solo vehicle collision. Officers arrived and discovered the vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver and rear seat passenger, both teenagers, were able to self-extricate themselves from the vehicle but the front seat passenger was still inside the vehicle and was found to be suffering from major trauma.
Emergency Medical Personnel arrived to render aid and eventually transported the passenger to a bay area trauma center where the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Members of the Gilroy Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to assume the investigation. They worked through the night and into the morning hours to gather evidence in an attempt to identify contributing factors to the collision. Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision at this time.
