Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Wednesday, 04-29-15 at 12:47 p.m., numerous officers were dispatched to the Planet Fitness Gym parking lot on a report of an auto burglary in progress. The reporting party saw two males opening vehicles and taking property from them. The reporting party gave a description of both suspects to the dispatcher, and officers were able to stop one of the subjects, a 20-year old Oakland resident. He was subsequently arrested for vehicle burglary, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy to commit a crime, committing a felony while out on bail and for an outstanding warrant. The other subject is still outstanding.
On Thursday, 04-30-15 at 3:00 p.m., an 87-year old resident on the 300 block of 1st Avenue said she was in her living room and saw from her window a subject walk on the sidewalk in front of her residence. The subject, carrying a clipboard and tape measure, knocked on the door, inferred he was a contractor and asked the resident if he could take measurements of her backyard. The resident agreed and allowed the subject to walk through her garage that led to the backyard. The resident said the subject measured her fence and talked on his cell phone a few times. After about ten minutes, the subject told her he was finished and left the residence on foot. The resident then walked into her bedroom and noticed it was ransacked and that her cabinet drawers and closet was left open. The property taken was miscellaneous jewelry. The resident believes another person must have entered her residence while she was in the backyard with the subject. The subject was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7”, 160 pounds, slender build, short hair, with a thick moustache. The resident said the subject wore a green shirt with the words “Tree Trimming” above the left breast pocket and was also wearing dark colored pants and shoes. This investigation is continuing.
On Thursday, 04-30-15 at 3:33 a.m., Officer Korey Sprader conducted a traffic stop at El Camino Real at A Street. As Officer Sprader pulled alongside the vehicle, the driver rolled down the window slightly and threw out the lit portion of his cigarette onto the street. The driver told the officer he didn’t have any identification with him, but the officer saw what he suspected was an identification card shoved into the center console of his vehicle. The officer asked the subject if he had any weapons with him, and the subject said yes and pointed to a knife that was on the seat next to him. The officer noted the card that was shoved in the center console was an AAA card. The officer asked the subject if the backpack in the vehicle was his, and the subject said it was, but that there would be no identification inside the backpack. The officer opened the backpack and found several empty boxes of prescription medicine, a bag containing suspected methamphetamine, a bag containing suspected heroin, pill bottles containing Oxycodone, several plastic bags, and a digital scale. The 29-year old San Bruno resident was arrested for being in possession of a switchblade knife and for possessing/transporting of a controlled substance for sale.
On Saturday, 05-02-15 at 1:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Sunglass Hut at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a just occurred theft by a subject carrying a guitar case who stole four pairs of designer sunglasses. The reporting party gave a description of the suspect, and officers found him walking in the area of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Colma Boulevard. The officers advised the subject he matched the description of a subject who just committed a theft from the shopping center. The subject, a 26-year old San Francisco resident, was on probation from San Mateo County with a search and seizure clause. The officers asked the subject if he had any weapons or contraband in his possession, and the subject advised he could have a needle in his pocket but didn’t know exactly where. While the officers were searching the subject, they found sunglasses and noticed the subject was sweating profusely, had a runny nose, dilated pupils, hot skin and appeared lethargic. The subject advised he was withdrawing from heroin. In addition to the guitar case, the subject carried a backpack. Officers found a syringe containing a brown fluid inside the backpack. Moments later, the employee from the Sunglass Hut arrived to identify the subject. The employee said the subject “shoulder blocked” her as he ran away with the sunglasses in hand. Officers arrested the subject for robbery, possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Nextdoor.com
This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
