Danville Police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon vehicle versus bicycle collision that resulted in the death of a 55 year old Danville resident.

Lt. Allan Shields said the accident occurred at 4:39 p.m. on May 5, 2015, at the intersection of Crow Canyon Road and Tassajara Ranch Drive. A teal colored 1997 Toyota Avalon travelling northbound on Crow Canyon Rd collided with the cyclist at the intersection of Tassajara Ranch Dr. The cyclist was transported via helicopter to the John Muir Medical Center and later pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained during the collision. The name of the cyclist is being withheld pending notification of family.

Lt Shields said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has fully cooperated with police. The Danville Police Department’s Traffic Unit is conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of this collision. Crow Canyon Rd will remain closed for several hours while the investigation takes place.
