Police blotter April 20th - April 23rd

April 20th

Possession of a Controlled Substance and Violation of the terms of Probation- Knott Avenue and Junction Avenue
At 2238 hours, an noticed a suspicious black Suburban parked facing eastbound on Knott Avenue near Junction Avenue. An officer spoke with the 35 year old male driver from San Pablo and the 23 year old pregnant female passenger from Antioch in the vehicle. The driver is on felony searchable probation for possession of stolen vehicles, stolen property and narcotics. The officer searched the vehicle and located 6 grams of methamphetamine and personal/financial information belonging to other persons. Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to ECPD for booking and interviews. The man was booked and transported to the county jail in Martinez. The woman was released from custody.

Public Intoxication- 10203 San Pablo Avenue
At 2334 hours, Officers were dispatched to a report of an unwanted person in a room at 10203 San Pablo Avenue. The unwanted man left prior to officer’s arrival however he was quickly located. The officer contacted the heavily intoxicated 51 year old man from Richmond and took him into custody for public intoxication. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Commercial Burglary- L&L Chinese Restaurant 10140 San Pablo Avenue
At 0221 hours, Officers responded to a burglar alarm with the point of activation being the rear door. Officers discovered that a suspect used a knife sharpener to punch a hole in the metal security door and then reach in to unlock the door. Surveillance video recordings show the suspect to be a black male adult in his late 20’s or early 30’s wearing a blue hat, black sweatshirt, and blue jeans. The suspect checked the cash register but found it to be empty. He continued to look around the restaurant for a short period but then left empty handed.

Vehicle Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a Controlled Substance- 11760 San Pablo Ave.
At 0616 hours, an officer responded to the listed location to take a theft report of a 1994 Ford Ranger. At 1046 hours, the officer spotted the stolen Ford parked along the 1900 block of Key Boulevard with a 30 year-old San Pablo man transferring property from a stolen van into the stolen Ford. The man was taken into custody and booked at the ECPD for the theft of both vehicles. The man was then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Theft and Possession of Stolen Property
At 1436 hours, an officer arrested a 53 year-old Richmond man for driving a Nissan truck which was reported stolen to the Richmond police department. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Theft- 5300 Block of Poinsett Ave.
An unknown suspect stole a 1996 Honda between 04/19 at 1930 hours and 04/20 at 1030 hours. An officer recovered the vehicle several blocks away during a neighborhood canvass. Fortunately, the vehicle had an ignition lock which only allowed the suspects to get several blocks away.

Burglary (Auto)- 2000 Block of Harper St.
An unknown suspect shattered the window of a 2007 Subaru and stole a wallet which was in the center console. The theft occurred between 04/20 at 2200 hours and 04/21 at 1030 hours.

Vehicle Theft- 3000 Block of San Mateo St.
An unknown suspect stole a 1997 Honda Civic between 04/20 at 2200 hours and 04/21 at 0700 hours.

Vehicle Theft- 5300 Block of Rosalind Ave.
An unknown suspect stole a 1990 Mazda 626 between 04/19 at 0400 hours and 04/21 at 0830 hours.

Vehicle Theft- 2900 Block of San Mateo Ave.
At 1135 hours, an officer recovered a 1997 Honda Civic which was reported stolen to the San Francisco Police Department.

April 21st

Possession of a Controlled Substance- San Pablo Avenue and Potrero Avenue
At 2351 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the 44 year old man from Richmond for possession of suspected methamphetamine. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation.

Shoplifting- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 0005 hours, an officer noticed two suspicious subjects loitering near the area Hill Street and Liberty Street. He contacted them along the east side of the BART parking structure on Liberty Street however one subject continued to walk away from him. Both subjects were quickly detained and the officer suspected that they had stolen alcohol from Safeway. Video surveillance recordings confirmed the officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 23 year old man from Richmond and a 29 year old man from Richmond. The officer booked the men at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released them with a citation.

April 22nd

Vehicle Theft- 1100 Block of Liberty St.
Between 04/21 at 2000 hours and 04/22 at 0810 hours, an unknown suspect stole a 1999 Subaru Outback.

Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave. at Columbia Ave.
At 1216 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and learned the driver, a 51 year-old man from El Cerrito man had a warrant for his arrest. A 50 year-old female passenger from El Cerrito also had a warrant for her arrest. The man was cited in the field for his warrant, but the female was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility as required by the warrant.

DUI, Resisting Arrest and Driving on a Suspended License- 7400 block of Park Vista
At 2130 hours, Officers responded to the area for a report of a suspicious vehicle occupied by two female subjects. Officers contacted the subjects and arrested the 26 year old female driver from San Pablo for DUI, resisting arrest, and driving on a suspended license. The 23 year old female passenger from El Sobrante was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a theft violation. The officers booked the subjects and transported them to the county jail in Martinez.

Driving Under the Influence- Fairmount Avenue and San Pablo Avenue
At 2336 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 54 year old female driver from El Cerrito for DUI. The officer booked the woman at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released her with a citation to a sober friend.

April 23rd

Burglary- 11780 San Pablo Ave.
On 04/23 between 1300 and 1400 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the window of a Ford Fusion and stole numerous eye wash bottles.

Grand Theft-3030 El Cerrito Plaza, T-Mobile
At 1558 hours, two subjects entered the business and stole 3 cellular phones, 2 iPads and then fled the business.

Driving Under the Influence- Moeser Lane and Richmond Street
At 1740 hours, an alert driver phoned 911 after she witnessed a vehicle driving recklessly on Moeser Lane. An officer contacted the 61 year old male driver from San Francisco and arrested him for DUI. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation to a sober friend.

Public Intoxication, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Violation of Probation- South 56th Street and Potrero Avenue
At 2301 hours, Officers responded to a report of a man down on the sidewalk. An officer located a male subject unconscious on the sidewalk with a head injury. His heavily intoxicated and uncooperative friend told the officer that the man fell and hit his head. The fall victim was transported to John Muir Medical Center for treatment. The friend, a 37 year old transient man, was unable to care for himself due to his level of intoxication and was taken into custody. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.
