LOCATION: M-57 and M-66, Bushnell Township.
The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a one car rollover crash on M-66 North of M-57, Bushnell Township at 11:24 P.M. on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
The deputies’ investigation revealed that Eriksen Trygstad, 30 years old from Sheridan, accelerated at a high rate of speed from the AGO Station at M-57 and M-66 in a 2006 Ford Mustang. After shifting into second gear he lost control of the vehicle, the vehicle left the roadway and after striking the ditch rolled several times coming to a rest on its roof.
Trygstad was not injured and was able to exit the vehicle on his own. The passenger, Marcus Fairfield a 27 year old from Grand Rapids, remained pinned in the vehicle. Sheridan fire extricated Fairfield from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life. He was then flown by Aeromed to Butterworth Hospital with serious injuries. Airbags did not deploy at the time of the crash but seat belts were believed to be worn by both occupants. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Sheridan Fire Department, Michigan State Police and Montcalm County Emergency Services.
