Here are some safety tips to keep in mind year round:

- When entering and exiting your home or vehicle; including walking to your home or vehicle, please refrain from focusing all of your attention on your cellular phone. Be cautious of your surroundings. Appearing aware of your surroundings can be a good crime deterrent for suspicious persons and opportunists.

- When you park the car, remove cellular phones, purses, wallets and other valuable possessions. Do not leave these items in plain view. Lock all valuables in your trunk or take them with you. If possible, park in an area that is well lit with heavy foot traffic.

- If you see any suspicious persons (including curfew violators) in your neighborhood, or place of business, please do not hesitate to the call the Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.

- Also, please remember to store your local law enforcement’s station phone number in to your cellular phone.

I encourage you to pass these safety tips along to family and friends, and as always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Deputy Yesenia Holwager
