Police and Community to Honor Police Captain Edward Tracey on Saturday

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR SLPD CAPTAIN EDWARD TRACEY
 
Law enforcement officers from several agencies and community members from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area will honor San Leandro Police Captain Edward Tracey on Saturday, April 25th, who lost a long battle with cancer last week.
 
Captain Tracey, who served in the San Leandro, Oakland, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Union City Police Departments during his 25 year law enforcement career, will depart the Santos Robinson Mortuary in San Leandro on Saturday at 7:30am, paying a final tribute for his service to those cities and communities in which he served.  
 
Led by a procession of police motorcycle officers from the San Leandro and Oakland Police Departments, Captain Tracey will be driven through San Leandro, past the Oakland Police Department, and into Oakland’s Chinatown, where he once served Oakland’s Chinese community.  
 
The ceremonial procession, which publicly displays honor and respect of a fallen law enforcement officer, will return to San Leandro, where the police motorcade will lead San Leandro and Oakland Police personnel through San Leandro, into Castro Valley, with its final arrival at the 3 Crosses Neighborhood Church, where Captain Tracey will be honored during the formal, police funeral ceremony.  
 
Family members, supported by hundreds of law enforcement personnel and community members are expected to attend the funeral services, which will begin at 10:00am.  
 
The procession is expected to pass by the Oakland Police Department and enter Oakland’s Chinatown at 8:00am.  San Leandro and Oakland Police personnel will line E. 14th St. from Broadmoor Blvd. to the San Leandro Police Department, and will salute Captain Tracey as he is returned back to his San Leandro community at 8:30am.
 
The procession will travel south on E. 14th St. into Castro Valley, with its final destination being the 3 Crosses Neighborhood Church.  
 
Community members are invited to attend the funeral services to honor Captain Tracey’s service, dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the law enforcement profession.

Depart Santos Robinson Mortuary and drive west on Estudillo Ave. to E.   14th St.
South on E. 14th St. to Davis St.
West on Davis St. to I-880 North
Exit I-880 at Broadway Ave. in Oakland
Pass the Oakland Police Department and turn east on Washington Ave.
South on 7th St., passing OPD’s entrance
North on Harrison St. to 8th St.
North on 8th St., passing the Asian Advisory Committee on Crime offices
East on Franklin St. to 11th St.
South on 11th St. to Madison St.
Madison St. to I-880 south
Exit 98th Ave. and drive east to International Blvd.
South on International Blvd. into San Leandro, where officers in formation     will salute Captain Edward Tracey as he passes by the San Leandro               Police Department
South on E. 14th St. to Mattox Rd. / Castro Valley Blvd.
Arrival at 3 Crosses Neighborhood Church.
