Police Blotter April 14th - April 16th

April 14th

Vehicle Theft- Albemarle Ave. at Central Ave.
An unknown suspect stole a 2001 Ford E-150 on 04/14 between 0600 and 0600 hours. The vehicle was recovered during the morning hours on South 1st St. in the City of Richmond.

Burglary- 9989 San Pablo Ave., Peet’s
At 1045 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the window of a Toyota Prius and stole various items which resulted in a five thousand dollar loss.

Drunk-in-Public- 6699 Fairmount Ave.
At 0942 hours, officers arrested a 50 year-old transient man for being too intoxicated to care for himself. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to a local shelter to recover.

Driving Under the Influence- Fairmount Avenue and Liberty Street
At 0145 hours, a patrol sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without any headlamps activated. The officer conducted field sobriety tests and determined that the 23 year old female driver from San Pablo was impaired. She was arrested for DUI and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the officer released her with a citation to a sober friend.

April 15th

Strong Arm Robbery- BART Path at Potrero Avenue
At 1947 hours, officers responded to a report of robbery along the BART path behind the Del Norte BART station. Officers located the victim on the BART path near Potrero Avenue suffering from wounds to his face after being punched multiple times by the suspects. A witness stopped and called 911 and provided a description of the two suspects that fled southbound along the BART path on bicycles. An El Cerrito Police Motorcycle Officer located the suspects in the parking lot of DMV and attempted to stop them however they fled on their bicycles. The motor officer pursued the suspects and eventually detained them with the help of other El Cerrito patrol officers. The two juvenile male suspects age 15 and 17 from Richmond were positively identified as the robbery suspects by witnesses and the stolen property was recovered. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. The juvenile suspects were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to juvenile hall.

Public Intoxication and Resisting Arrest- Eastshore Boulevard and Potrero Avenue
At 2030 hours, an officer responded to a report of a woman who had been hit with a rock and was on the ground unresponsive. Upon the officer's arrival witnesses pointed to two subjects leaving the area and stated the female was the victim. The officer spoke with a 37 year old transient male and a 52 year old transient female and found them to be intoxicated. The male was uncooperative and refused to follow commands given by the officer. He was taken into custody and transported to the police department for booking. The woman was transported to the hospital due to her high level of intoxication. An officer booked the man and transported him to the county jail.

April 16th

Warrant Arrest- Lexington Ave. at Eureka Ave.
At 0852 hours, an officer spoke with, and arrested a 24 year-old El Cerrito man on an outstanding driving under the influence arrest. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Theft- 600 Block of Elm St.
Between 04/15 at 1900 hours and 04/16 at 0900 hours, an unknown suspect stole a 1994 Ford Escort.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon- Potrero Avenue and I80
At 0100 hours, Officer’s responded to Denny’s for a report of a man who had been struck by a pipe in a homeless encampment. The man stated that an unknown suspect had entered his encampment and demanded that he turn it over to the suspect. The victim grabbed a nearby metal pipe to defend himself however the suspect overpowered him and took the pipe and struck him with it. The victim fled to Denny’s and called police to report the incident. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and the suspect was never located.
