Police Blotter April 6 - April 9

April 6th

Residential Burglary- 1200 Block of Navellier Street
At 2209 hours, an officer responded to a report of a residential burglary. The victim returned home to find that an unknown suspect had entered the residence via an unlocked side rear door and stole a 40” TV, a laptop, and a 24” computer monitor. The time frame of the burglary was between 1830 hours and 2115 hours that day.

Vandalism- 6500 Block of Hill Street
At 0046 hours, officers responded to a report of a prowler in the fenced yard of the residence. Officers arrived and discovered an unknown suspect had kicked in the locked gate to the yard to gain entry. The suspect had left prior to the officer’s arrival however nothing was stolen.

Robbery- 11785 San Pablo Ave., Launderland
At 1255 hours, a masked suspect entered the business, brandished a firearm and demanded cash from the attendant. Upon receiving four hundred dollars the suspect fled the business.

Burglary- 1400 Block of Everett St.
An unknown suspect entered a residence through an unlocked door and stole the victim’s cash and checks. The theft occurred on 04/05 between 0900 and 2230 hours.

Burglary- 7200 Block of Donal Ave.
On 04/06, between 0945 and 1135 hours, an unknown suspect forced entry into the residence and stole several computers and a laptop.

Burglary- 1400 Block of Lawrence St.
On 04/06, between the hours of 0815 and 1630, an unknown suspect forced open the front door of the residence and stole several electronic items.

Burglary- 7800 Block of Terrace Dr.
Between 04/03 at 1300 hours and 04/06 at 1630 hours, an unknown suspect entered the residence and stole several computers and jewelry.

April 7th

Grand Theft- 11299 San Pablo Ave., Cricket Wireless
An unidentified suspect entered Cricket Wireless and stole two cellular phones for a total loss of one thousand dollars.

April 8th

Warrant Arrest- Hill St. at Lexington Ave.
At 1313 hours, an officer arrested a 53 year-old transient male for an outstanding ECPD theft warrant. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Burglary- 2500 Block of Tamalpais Ave.
On 04/07 at 2100 hours, the resident reported hearing someone in the front bedroom of his residence. When the resident turned on the interior lights he heard the sound of someone climbing the fence around his yard. The resident did not think anything of the noise until he noticed the window open and several bottles of soap were on the deck below the window the following morning. No reported loss.

Outside Agency Assistance- 1800 block of 2nd Street in Unincorporated Richmond
At 1758 hours, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff requested the assistance of K9 Koda and his partner for an article search. Deputies were investigating a report of a shooting and requested Koda conduct an article search of an area for possible evidence. K9 Koda and his partner searched the area but were unable to locate anything of evidentiary value for the deputies investigation.

Shoplifting and Violation of Probation- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 2044 hours, officers responded to a report of a shoplifting in progress. An officer arrived and detained the suspect in the parking lot of the store. The officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of the 36 year old man from San Francisco for shoplifting. The man is probation for petty theft with multiple prior offenses. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail for violating his probation terms.

Residential Burglary- 200 block of Colusa Avenue
At 2212 hours, officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary. Officers arrived and cleared the residence to ensure that no suspects were still inside. The officers determined that an unknown suspect had gained entry into the home by defeating a lock on a kitchen window. The suspect stole jewelry and a laptop. The time frame of the burglary was between 0800 hours and 2200 hours that day.

Burglary- 5600 Block of Eldorado St.
An unidentified suspect shattered the window of a 1999 Honda and stole miscellaneous from the vehicle. The theft occurred sometime between 04/06 at 0730 hours and 04/08 at 0930 hours.

April 9th

Attempted Residential Burglary / Resisting Arrest / Violation of Probation- 8100 block of Terrace Drive
At 2018 hours, officers responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress. The victim phoned 911 from inside the home while a suspect was trying to gain entry into the residence. The victim thought the suspect might have entered through a rear door so the victim ran next door to a neighbor’s house. Upon arrival, a patrol sergeant spotted the suspect between two houses and chased him back towards other officers on Shevlin Drive. The suspect tried to run from the officers on Shevlin Drive but was quickly apprehended. ECPD officers with the assistance of Kensington police officers established a perimeter for a ground search by a San Pablo PD K9 and an aerial search by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit for any possible additional suspects. A Nixle alert was broadcasted advising residents to avoid the area during the search. No additional suspects were located and a follow up Nixle alert was sent lifting the advisory. Officers processed the scene for evidence and a El Cerrito Police Detective responded from home to assist in the suspect interview. The detective obtained a full confession from the 28 year old man from Richmond who is already on probation from a previous burglary offense. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the county jail in Martinez.

DUI Collision- 800 block of Arlington Boulevard
At 0213 hours, officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle collision into a pole. Officers arrived and arrested the 56 year old male driver from Richmond for DUI. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released with a citation to a sober friend.
