Narrative:
Major Crimes detectives and Jail personnel are investigating an inmate death that occurred at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura. There was no indication of violence or suspicious circumstances.
On April 15, 2015, at approximately 6:00 a.m., deputies noticed the inmate not breathing and unresponsive. Emergency aid was rendered by deputies and Jail medical staff. Ventura City Fire personnel and AMR paramedics were summoned to provide more advanced life saving efforts. Ultimately, the inmate was pronounced dead at the jail shortly thereafter.
The cause of death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiner. It is standard procedure that all inmate deaths are investigated by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit.
