The ECPD announces an arrest for an attempted residential burglary on 4/9/15.
On Thursday April 9, 2015 at 2015 hours, the ECPD responded assist a resident who reported that someone was breaking into her home in the 8100 block of Terrace Drive. The female resident was home alone. She called 911 after hearing the suspect and seeing him on her front porch. After calling, she ran out through the front door as the suspect had gone to the rear door of her home.
As Officers arrived, the suspect took off running. He was apprehended. However, due to the fact that the victim saw and heard activity at both her front and back doors, there was a belief that there may have been more than one suspect.
A Sheriff’s Helicopter was used to help search the neighborhood. A San Pablo PD K9 with two Officers came and helped with the search. The search was concluded and no other suspects were found. Investigating Officers found that an exterior light on the victim’s home had been unscrewed, indicating that the suspect loosened it to use darkness for concealment.
The person arrested was Marcos Salas, a 28 year old resident of Oakland. He was booked for attempting to burglarize the home, fleeing from Officers and for violating the terms of his probation. He was taken to the County Jail in Martinez.
If anyone has seen this suspect in their neighborhood, possibly involved in another crime, please contact the ECPD so we can investigate further.
