INCIDENT: Search & Rescue

LOCATION: Hulda Crooks Park 11800 Mountain View Ave. Loma Linda

VICTIM(S): Edsel Montemayor, 36yoa resident of San Diego County

SUMMARY: On April 3, 2015, at approximatley 9:00am, deputies from the Central Station/Loma Linda Police Department were dispatched to the Hulda Crooks Park in Loma Linda reference a possible search and rescue. Charlene Montemayor, a resident of San Diego County, reciveed a phone call from her husband, Edsel Montemayor, telling her he was lost and needed help. He explained, he had gone bike riding at Hulda Crooks Park, fell, hit his head and did not know where he was. Mrs. Montemayor provided vehicle informaton and Mr. Montemayor's description to Sheriff's dispatch.

During a check of the area, deputies located Mr. Montemayor's vehicle parked at the far south end of Hulda Crooks Park. Near the vehicle is a single off-road trail leading into rough mountain terrain. Loma Linda Fire Department assisted deputies with an off-road rescue vehicle. Sheriff's Helicopter also responded to the area to assist in locating Mr. Montemayer. Within several minutes, Aviation Deputies located Mr. Montemayer on the trail approximatley one mile south of his vehicle location.

Upon contact with deputies, Mr. Montemayer was alert but had visible injuries consistent with a bicycle accident. Fire/EMS personnel treated him at the scene and then transported him to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of a possible concussion.
