March 23rd
Shoplifting- 1000 El Cerrito Plaza, Luckys
At 1346 hours, an ECPD officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 36 year-old man from SF for shoplifting. The man was booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation.
Shoplifting- Luckys 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1824 hours, an officer responded to Luckys for a report of a shoplifter. The officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of the 34 year old woman from San Francisco after she attempted to steal $150 worth of groceries and cosmetics from the store. The officer booked the woman and then released her with a citation.
Shoplifting- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 2022 hours, a patrol Sergeant noticed a suspicious male subject loitering in front of Safeway and then enter business. The sergeant suspected that the man was going to shoplift so he notified the manager of the business. A few minutes later the suspect exited the store with a stolen can of beer in his rear pants pocket. The sergeant detained the man outside of the store and notified the manager. The manager placed the 33 year old transient man under citizen’s arrest for theft. The man was booked by an officer at the police department and then released with a citation.
Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Avenue and Eureka Avenue
At 2259 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 37 year old man from Richmond for an outstanding traffic warrant held by Pleasanton PD. The officer booked the man and the transported him to the county jail in Martinez.
Driving Under the Influence- Central Avenue and Yolo Avenue
At 0101 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 23 year old male driver from Richmond for DUI. The officer booked the man and then released him with a citation to a sober friend.
Possession of a Controlled Substance- San Pablo Avenue and Moeser Lane
At 0129 hours, an officer contacted a suspicious person and during a search located suspected methamphetamine. The officer booked the 62 year old transient man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation.
March 24th
Burglary- 2000 block of Tapscott Ave.
Between 03/23 at 1730 hours and 03/24 at 0700 hours, an unknown suspect entered the school's computer lab and stole several Apple computers and iPads. The investigating officer is still working on possible leads.
Indecent Exposure- 5300 Block of Barrett Ave.
At 1420 hours, a victim called the ECPD to report an unknown male was following the victim and masturbating. Officers located the suspect, a 20 year-old Richmond man and arrested him for indecent exposure. The man was booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation.
Residential Burglary- 6500 block of Knott Avenue
At 1629 hours, an officer responded to a report of a residential burglary. The officer determined that the unknown suspect entered the residence by pushing open a locked window and then stole jewelry from inside. The homeowner had received a burglary alarm notification from their alarm company at approximately noon that day but elected not to send El Cerrito Police Officers because of too many previous false alarms.
Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Avenue and Ohio Avenue
At 0109 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 19 year old man from Sacramento for outstanding warrant from Sacramento PD for burglary. The officer booked the man and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.
Driving Under the Influence- Carlson Blvd and El Dorado Street
At 0124 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 28 year old male driver from Albany for DUI. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation to a sober friend.
March 25th
Missing Juvenile- 724 Kearney St., Fairmount Elementary School
During the morning ECPD officers were dispatched to Fairmount Elementary school to assist to assist staff with a 12 year-old who left campus. Shortly after taking a missing person report the investigating officer discovered the student had walked home to his residence in Richmond.
Possession of a Controlled Substance- San Pablo Avenue Eureka Avenue
At 1854 hours, an officer contacted a suspicious person and conducted a probation search. During the search the officer found suspected methamphetamine. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation.
Vehicle Pursuit- 2600 block of Ellerhorst Street
At 2342 hours, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle occupied by two subjects. The reporting party stated that the vehicle was not known to the area and had been parked on the street for over an hour. The two occupants inside were smoking and using their cell phones. Officers arrived and attempted to contact the subjects however they quickly fled in the vehicle northbound. Officers initiated a vehicle pursuit however it was quickly terminated after the suspects failed to stop for three stop signs while fleeing. The vehicle is described as a black or blue colored Chevy Cruze with paper license plates with a black background and yellow writing.
March 26th
Shoplifting- 11450 San Pablo Ave., Safeway
At 0950 hours, officers responded to Safeway and accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 50 year-old man for stealing items from the store. During the investigation officers also discovered he was in possession of stolen items from Walgreens. The man was booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation. Shortly after being released, the man returned to Safeway and attempted to steal more items. The man was arrested a second time and transported to the ECPD for booking. The man was ultimately released from the PD and transported to the hospital for medical reasons.
Petty Theft- 3050 El Cerrito Plaza, GameStop
At 1551 hours, an unknown suspect entered the business, selected a gaming console and then fled the business.
Warrant Arrest- Central Avenue and Oak Street
At 1910 hours, an officer recognized the driver of a vehicle from previous arrest contacts and conducted a records check. The records check revealed that the 52 year old man from El Cerrito had an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with the terms of his court order. Officers contacted the man at his home and took him into custody. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released with a citation.
Residential Burglary- 1300 block of Lawrence Street
At 2052 hours, an officer responded for a report of a residential burglary. The officer determined that the unknown suspect entered the home through an unsecured bathroom window and stole electronics and jewelry. The time frame for the burglary was between 1810 hours and 2045 hours.
