Police Blotter March 13th - March 16th

March 13th

Fictitious bill – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 0800 hours, an unknown suspect passed a fictitious $100 dollar bill.

Located missing person – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd.
At 0917 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and found that the 18-year-old Riverside man had been reported missing two weeks earlier. The man was brought to the El Cerrito Police Department where he was picked up by his father.

Warrant arrest – 11060 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1000 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the passenger, a 33-year-old Daly City woman for an outstanding warrant. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Hit and run – Kearney St. / Manila Ave.
At 1700 hours, a witness reported seeing a grey pickup back into an El Cerrito city vehicle that was parked on Kearney St. The suspect exited his vehicle, examined the damage, and fled the scene.

Warrant arrest – Potrero Ave. / Kearney St.
At 1932 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver on a Berkeley PD battery warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on bail.

Drug Possession for the purposes of sales: San Pablo Ave and Moeser Lane:
At 2252 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 59 year old Richmond resident for being in possession of an ounce of suspected methamphetamine. The man was also found in possession of a large amount of cash and a digital scale. The man was booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

March 14th
Driving under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage: San Pablo Ave and Moeser Lane:
At 0056 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested a 30 year old San Pablo male, for driving under the influence. He was booked and released on a citation.

Runaway Juvenile – 5300 block of Cypress Ave.
At 0600 hours, a mother of a 14-year-old boy called police after her son did not return home from the previous night out.

Residential burglary – 700 block of Everett St.
Between 2100 hours on 3/13/15 and 0900 hours on 3/14/15, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s house via an unlocked door and stole laptops and iPad’s.

Vehicle theft – 900 block of Seaview Dr.
Between 1800 hours on 3/13/15 and 1000 hours on 3/14/15, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1998 GMC Savannah van.

Shoplifting – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1430 hours, a clerk at Safeway called after a 54-year-old Richmond man and a 44-year-old Vallejo man entered Safeway and stole several bottles of alcohol. The clerk refused to make a police report or citizen’s arrest of the suspects. Therefore, both men were given trespass cards barring them from the business and cited for possession of an open container of alcohol.

Shoplift, Medical emergency – Jay Vee Liquors, 10560 San Pablo Ave.
At 1507 hours, officers were dispatched to the store after a 44-year-old Richmond woman entered the business and began drinking a bottle of wine without purchasing it. The woman was severely intoxicated and stated that she suffered from seizures. The woman was transported to the hospital by AMR.

Shoplift, Trespassing – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1530 hours, officers were dispatched to Safeway after the same 54-year-old Richmond man involved in the earlier theft returned to Safeway and stole bottles of alcohol. This time, the store wanted the man arrested. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Mental health evaluation – 10000 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1700 hours, an officer committed a 34-year-old transient woman for a 72-hour mental health evaluation after she suffered a manic episode. The woman was transported the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Controlled Substance Possession - Warrant Arrest: Carlson Boulevard and Adams Street:
At 2349 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 45 year old El Cerrito man for possession of suspected methamphetamine. A wants and warrants check also revealed the ma had an outstanding warrant. He was booked and released on a citation.

March 15th

Runaway juvenile update – 5300 block of Cypress Ave. The 14-year-old runaway juvenile returned home at 0900 hours.

Vehicle theft – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1141 hours, officers responded to Safeway after a 23-year-old Richmond man stole his mother’s 2014 Honda Accord while she was shopping in the store.

Warrant arrest, Elder abuse, petty theft – Cornell Ave. / Garfield Ave.
On 3/7/15 at 1650 hours, officers responded to the report of an elderly woman having her purse stolen from her vehicle. An officer following up on this case determined that the suspect followed the victim from where she was shopping to where she parked her car on Contra Costa Drive. The suspect was an Asian Male, 20’s black pants, black t-shirt, black horn-rim glasses. He was driving a white older SUV. Following the theft, the suspect used the victim’s credit card to purchase a gift card at a business in Albany. Officers obtained surveillance video of the suspect while at the business.

On 3/15/15 at 1354 hours, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle, a white Nissan Pathfinder, driving in the parking lot of the El Cerrito Plaza. The officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and contacted the driver, a 30-year-old El Sobrante man. A records check revealed the man had a warrant issued for his arrest from Alameda County. The original reporting officer of the theft arrived at the traffic stop and immediately recognized the driver as the theft suspect. He further recognized the vehicle as the one used during the theft. The man was arrested for his warrant and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department. The man was booked for elder abuse, theft, and his warrant. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 16th

Shoplifting - 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1846 hours, an officer responded to the report of a black male adult, 30’s, 6’02” 215 lbs, red hat, red shirt, dark jeans loaded $200 in shrimp into a bag and fled the store. When told to stop by store management, he replied with an expletive and fled. He was accompanied by a BFA 5’05” 200 lbs.
