Police Blotter March 9 - March 12

March 9th

Warrant Arrest-1000 block of King Dr.
At approximately 0749 hours, an officer was patrolling in the area and noticed a suspicious vehicle. During the investigation, the officer contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and discovered he had an outstanding warrant. The 29 year old male El Cerrito resident was taken into custody for the warrant. The officer booked the male at the El Cerrito Police department and transported him to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle-1600 block of Richmond St.
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1998 Nissan pick-up truck. The theft occurred between 3/8/15 at 2000 hours and 3/9/15 at 0700 hours.

Auto Burglary-1000 block of Havens Pl.
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect smashed out the front passenger’s window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred between midnight and 1200 hours on 3/9/15.

Residential Burglary-5900 block of Avila St.
An officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unlocked front door to gain entry and removed property. The burglary occurred between 1000-1015 hours on 3/9/15.

Auto Burglary-11511 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 1628 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed out the rear driver’s window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property.

Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Avenue and Van Fleet Avenue
At 0053 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 42 year old male driver from Berkeley for DUI. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the county jail in Martinez.

Assistance to the Richmond Police Department for an Armed Robbery
At 0157 hours, the Richmond Police Department broadcasted a description of a minivan used in an armed robbery in the 3000 block of Shane Drive. An El Cerrito officer positioned his patrol car on the Potrero on ramp to westbound I80 and monitored the freeway for the suspect vehicle. Minutes later, the officer noticed a vehicle matching the description traveling westbound on I80. The officer caught up to the vehicle and followed it until additional police units were able to catch up to them on the Bay Bridge. The El Cerrito Officer assisted Richmond Police Officers in a high risk stop on the bay bridge near the Fremont Avenue exit in San Francisco. The officers took three suspects into custody without incident and recovered the firearm used in the crime. Officers also recovered the victim’s stolen property.

March 10th

Under the Influence/Warrant-2500 block of Arlington Blvd.
At approximately 0920 hours, officers were dispatched to the area of a suspicious person. Several citizens called the dispatch center and reported a male had knocked on their door and he appeared to be drunk. Officers located the male in the area. Officers had the male performed several field sobriety tests and determined he was under the influence. Officers conducted a warrants check and discovered the male had two outstanding warrants. The 22 year old male from Burbank was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police department. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

In-custody Shoplift-670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS)
At approximately 1623 hours, officers were dispatched to an in-custody shoplifting detail at CVS. Loss prevention agents placed a 16 year old female juvenile from Novato under citizen’s arrest. The juvenile attempted to leave the business with unpaid merchandise. The juvenile was booked at the El Cerrito Police department. After booking, the juvenile was released to a relative.

Vehicle Collision with Injuries- Central Avenue and Kearney Street
At 1803 hours, officers responded to a report of an injury collision at this intersection. Officer’s assisted ECFD and AMR with the injured persons and conducted a collision investigation. Two passengers from one vehicle were transported to the hospital for evaluation of their injuries.

Shoplifting- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 2158 hours, officers responded to a report from a Safeway employee that he suspected that subjects loitering inside and outside of the business were possibly planning on stealing merchandise. Officer’s arrived and contacted three subjects in front of the store. The officers determined that the suspect’s had just stolen alcohol and pastries from the store just prior to their arrival. Officer’s accepted the citizen arrest of a 32 year old man from Fairfield and a 32 year old man from Vallejo for shoplifting. Both were taken to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking and then released with citations.

Assistance to BART PD for a report of a Man With a Gun- Del Norte BART Station
At 2048 hours, ECPD officers responded to the Del Norte BART station at the request of BART PD to assist in detaining a man reported to have waived a gun at people and himself on the platform. ECPD officers assisted BART PD in detaining the mentally disturbed man who was in possession of a replica firearm. The man was referred to the county hospital in Martinez for a psychological evaluation by BART PD.

Assistance to BART PD for a Report of a Suicidal Man- El Cerrito Plaza BART
At 2100 hours, ECPD officers responded to the EC Plaza BART station to assist BART PD with a suicidal man who threatened to jump off of the platform. ECPD officers arrived and contacted the man who was distraught. The man was referred to the county hospital in Martinez for a psychological evaluation by BART PD.

March 11th

Auto Burglary-400 block of Everett St.
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear passenger’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a laptop bag. The theft occurred between 3/10/15 at 2130 hours and 3/11/15 at 0830 hours.

Auto Burglary-6800 block of Eureka Ave.
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear passenger’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a laptop. The theft occurred between 3/10/15 at 2015 hours and 3/11/15 at 0815 hours.

Auto Burglary-Lassen St. at Carlson Blvd.
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear passenger’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole the victim’s property. The theft occurred between 3/10/15 at 1900 hours and 3/11/15 at 0545 hours.

Warrant Arrest-11450 San Pablo Ave.(Safeway)
A citizen flagged down a Community Services Officer about two suspicious subjects in the parking lot looking into vehicles. The subjects had just jumped into a black Range Rover. The CSO advised responding units the direction of flight. An officer caught up with the vehicle and conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle. The passenger, An adult male from San Pablo was arrested for two outstanding warrants. One of the warrants was for $200k, obstruction of a police officer. After booking, the subject was transported to the MDF. TOO: 1411 hours.

Theft form Vehicle-1900 block of Ganges Ave.
An officer reports an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s unsecured vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred in between 3/10 at 1630 and 3/11 at 0800 hours.

Warrant Arrest- Terrace Motel 10869 San Pablo Avenue
At 2236 hours, an officer contacted a pedestrian and arrested the 34 year old man from El Sobrante for an outstanding warrant for DUI. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Auto Burglary- 5300 block of Potrero Avenue
At 2314 hours, an officer responded to a report of an auto burglary that occurred sometime within the last 24 hours. The victim reported that an unknown suspect broke the rear wing window of her Toyota and stole miscellaneous tools.

Driving Under the Influence- Central Avenue and Yosemite Avenue
At 0053 hours, a patrol sergeant conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 26 year old female driver for DUI. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released with a citation to a sober friend.

Warrant Arrest and Violation of juvenile nighttime curfew- Potrero Avenue and So. 55th Street

At 0252 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 21 year old driver from Richmond for an outstanding warrant for violating a court order. The officer also cited the three juvenile passengers for violating the city curfew. The officer booked the driver at the El Cerrito Police Department and released him with a citation and a new court date.

March 12th

Warrant Arrest-10900 San Pablo Ave (El Cerrito Police Department)
At approximately 0745 hours, a female came into the El Cerrito Police department to retrieve her property. An officer discovered the 30 year old female resident of Richmond had an outstanding warrant. The female was arrested for the warrant without incident. The officer booked the female and transported her to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Possession of a Controlled Substance and Narcotic Paraphernalia
At 1945 hours, an officer was flagged down by a pedestrian regarding a lost dog. The 45 year old woman from El Cerrito is a known narcotics user and admitted to having a methamphetamine pipe in her possession. The officer searched the woman and located the pipe which contained suspected methamphetamine contained inside. The officer arrested the woman and booked her at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the woman was released with a citation.

Auto Burglary- 2000 Block of Junction Avenue
At 1902 hours, an officer responded to a report of an auto burglary. The victim reported that sometime between 2030 hours on the 11th and 0715 hours on the 12th an unknown suspect pried the front passenger window out of the sill to gain entry into the car. The suspect conducted a light ransack of the vehicle and left without stealing anything.
