Indianapolis Executive Airport Wins Award

At the December meeting of the Hamilton County Council, Bruce Payton, President of the Indiana Aviation Association, presented to the Council members a plaque honoring Indianapolis Executive Airport as the Indiana Airport of the Year. The Aviation Association represents over 60 active airports across the State.

The Award Winner is selected based on an evaluation of the candidates’ performance in such areas as economic development, aviation education, corporate citizenship and community outreach, safety & security, and environmental improvements.
Indianapolis Executive Airport was purchased by Hamilton County nearly six years ago. The County has invested considerable time, effort, and resources in upgrading the airport runway system, hangar facilities, and management of the operation.

Indianapolis Executive, located on S.R. 32 West of Westfield serves as a hub for light aircraft traffic in the Metro area including some executive jet traffic.

Along with the plaque the County also receives a metal highway sign that can be displayed at the entrance to the facility identifying it as “Airport of the Year”.
