Veteran DCPD Employee Retires Today

After working 30 years for the Police Department, Lt. Julian Agustin worked his last day today. Julian filled many positions within the department. As an officer, he was a field evidence technician, worked in the Crime Suppression Unit “J Squad”, and he was a detective where he became a narcotics and gang expert. He received a medal of valor in both 1990 and 1993 and a purple heart in 1993. When Julian was promoted to sergeant in 1998, he worked in patrol, was the acting commander for the Detectives division, and was the Community Division sergeant. Julian was promoted to lieutenant in 2005, and there he worked in patrol, as the special operations commander in charge of Traffic and Community, and finally in Technical Services where he not only was responsible for the Records and Communications Division, but was also responsible for the various computer platforms. Julian also was a member of SWAT for 20 years, going from a team member to leader, and then to commander. He was also the assistant commander for the San Mateo County Terrorism Assault Team (TCAT). Julian has been a member of the Police Athletic League (PAL) for the past 20 years, and he is currently the president. In 2009, he received the PAL’s “John Coleman” award for his service to the PAL.

We will miss Julian, and we wish him the best.
