DATE/TIME: March 19, 2015

INCIDENT: Suspicious Circumstances - Attempted Kidnapping

LOCATION: Highway 18 / Third St., Baldwin Lake

SUSPECT: Unidentified white male adult

VICTIM: 12-Year-Old Female

SUMMARY:

On March19, 2015, deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping that occurred on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in the vicinity of Highway 18 near Third Street in Baldwin Lake. An unidentified white male adult, driving a black sedan, stopped a 12 year old female juvenile while she was walking home from her bus stop after school. A male passenger opened his door and asked the victim where she was going. The victim ran to her residence and the male subject chased after her. Once the victim was safely inside her house, the male subject ran back to the vehicle and the car fled westbound on Highway 18 (towards Big Bear City).

Deputies conducted a check of the area today, concentrating on time frames before and after school, but were unable to locate a vehicle or subjects matching the reported description. The passenger is described as a white male adult, mid-30’s, 5’8”-5’10” tall with a thin build, and blond “faux-hawk” style haircut. The victim could not see any descriptive characteristics for the driver, as the subject was wearing a jacket with the hood over their head.
