Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 03-09-15 between 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., an 18-year old South San Francisco resident said he was driving his vehicle on Mission Street and School Street when he noticed a white Nissan was following him. He said when he got to the intersection of 87th Street and Junipero Serra Boulevard, the male driver in the Nissan showed a knife outside the window and started waving it around in the air. The reporting party said that the subject then got out of the car and walked towards him. The reporting party said he locked his car and drove away. The reporting party was able to take a video of the subject’s vehicle. This case is being investigated.

On Tuesday, 03-10-15 at 11:32 p.m., Officer Bruce Perdomo attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near Goethe Street and San Jose Avenue when the driver of the vehicle decided not to stop. A short pursuit ensued, and the pursuit was terminated due to unsafe conditions. Officer Perdomo was able to identify the suspect, a 49-year old Daly City resident, who turned himself into San Francisco P.D. a week later. He was arrested for felony evading and for driving on a suspended license.

On Thursday, 03-12-15 at 1:55 a.m., Sergeant Jeff Tallerico noticed a driver swerving from one lane to another near East Market Street and Orange Street. He issued the driver a citation for driving on a suspended license and for no proof of insurance, and he towed the vehicle. A short time later, the Burlingame Police Department requested to be on the lookout for a vehicle that was involved in an interrupted auto burglary that occurred in their city. This vehicle was the same one that was just towed. DCPD units responded back to the area, but the subjects were gone. Broadmoor P.D. located the subjects, and Burlingame officers. came out to the location. Both suspects, a 24-year old South San Francisco resident and a 22-year old San Bruno resident, confessed to the auto burglary and were taken into custody by Burlingame P.D.

On Thursday, 03-12-16 at 4:24 p.m., three officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Woodrow Street on a report of two brothers involved in a verbal disturbance. The reporting party said one of brothers was under the influence of “crystal meth”. Officers determined that the subject was indeed under the influence. The subject, a 25-year old Daly City resident, admitted to using methamphetamine a few hours prior. The officers arrested the subject for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for possession of unlawful paraphernalia (a glass pipe).

On Thursday, 03-12-15 at 5:22 p.m., Officer Nick Ottoboni and Officer Joshua McQuade were patrolling in the area of Geneva Avenue when they saw a woman walk up to different motel room doors at the Geneva Motel, pause and look both ways before continuing on to another door. The officers noted her behavior was peculiar and asked her what she was doing. The woman, a 51-year old San Francisco resident, said she was arriving to stay with her boyfriend. The officers asked her if she had anything illegal on her person, and the woman’s eyes started to tear, and she became very nervous. She admitted to having methamphetamine in her shirt pocket. Officers arrested her for possession of a controlled substance.

On Thursday, 03-12-15 at 6:00 p.m., Officer Ed Green and Officer Phillip Wagnon were dispatched to the McDonald’s restaurant on Serramonte Boulevard on a report of an unwanted subject inside the restaurant. The manager said the subject bought food hours prior and was sleeping on a table. The manager was worried because he could not wake up the subject. The officers woke up the subject, a 23-year old Pacifica resident, and asked him if he had used any drugs. The subject admitted to using heroin but that he had been up for two days from using methamphetamine. Officers searched the subject and found a switchblade knife in his possession. They cited and released the subject for possessing a switchblade.

On Saturday, 03-14-15, DCPD participated in a North County operation combatting the recent increase in minors consuming alcohol. In conjunction with the Alcoholic Beverage Control and members of other allied police departments, officers participated in a “shoulder tap/minor decoy” detail hoping to reduce under age consumption of alcoholic beverages by deterring adults from furnishing alcohol to the underage adults. Several people were issued citations in this operation.
