Brush Fire - in area of Ventura Avenue @ Canada Larga between Ojai & Ventura / Ventura Ave. closed in area #sheriffvc 
A brush fire started in the river bottom behind the Brooks Institute Ventura Campus (5301 N. Ventura Avenue) at approximately 3:54 pm. One hundred fifty people were evacuated from the Brooks Institute, and Ventura Avenue is closed between Canada Larga and Crooked Palm Road.
The fire has burned approximately two acres and there are 120 firefighters on scene from Ventura County Fire, Ventura City Fire, and Cal Fire.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fire as a possible arson and interviewing witnesses in the area. California Highway Patrol is assisting with road closures and traffic control in the area. Closures will remain in effect for at least the next three hours. Avoid the area.
Highway 33 remains open in both directions.
