Township Burglaries
Recently the Greenwich Township Police Department received reports of a home burglary as well as some vehicles burglaries within the Township. Although locking your homes and vehicles doesn't prevent a would be burglar from committing the act, it does act as a great deterrent. The vehicle burglaries the police department has responded to, have almost all been categorized as a crime of opportunity. A crime of opportunity can be defined as simply an offender that commits a crime because the opportunity presents itself offering high reward for little risk. This being the case if a vehicle is left unlocked with valuables left in plain sight or loosely concealed.
Be sure to lock your vehicles and homes, keep valuables out of sight, and be sure to close your garage doors when not in use. These are some simple steps to help prevent yourself from being a victim of theft.
