On March 11th, a theft report was filed in the 100 block of Fernwood Drive. The victim was attempting to sell an item on Craigslist. The victim received fraudulent emails claiming to be from Craigslist and Paypal. These emails put him in contact with a buyer and stated that the funds were in the victim's account. The victim failed to verify the account and mailed the item to a third person out of state. After finding out that he had no funds in his account he contacted Craigslist and Paypal. Neither company had any records of the transaction. Please be careful when dealing with similar transactions. Scam artists will cut and paste Paypal, Craigslist and other logos on emails to make them appear legitimate. Don't let greed get in the way of making a sell or purchase. Be smart with your money!
