OSBI Agents Assist with Sulphur Homicide & Kidnapping Investigation

Overnight, the Sulphur Police Department requested OSBI investigative and crime scene assistance with a homicide and kidnapping case. Friday evening at approximately 7 o'clock, Justin Ray Smith (d.o.b. 3-11-1979), of Lindsey, forced his way into a woman's home in the 300 block of West 13th Street. At gunpoint, Smith forced 40-year-old Randale Lee Hokett, of Ardmore, and a woman into Hokett's pickup truck and drove them to Veterans Lake near Sulphur where Smith shot and killed Hokett. Smith parked Hokett's truck, with the homicide victim inside, near the 1200 block of Atoka Street in Sulphur. Smith picked up his vehicle, drove the woman to the Sulphur Police Department, and made her call 911. That call was made at approximately midnight. Smith turned himself in at the Lindsey Police Department and was transported to the Garvin County Sheriff's Office where OSBI agents interviewed and then arrested him for murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and rape. OSBI agents, Sulphur police officers, Murray County Sheriffs deputies, and Garvin County Sheriffs deputies are working together to gather evidence and information.
