Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District Celebrating 20 Year Anniversary at Upcoming Board Meeting

Riverbank, CA – Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection Districted (SCFPD) will be celebrating its 20th anniversary at the upcoming Board meeting on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 6 PM in the Social Hall located at Station 36, 3318 Topeka Street in Riverbank.

Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District was formed on March 3, 1995 as a result of an exploratory project with the goal of providing the most effective and efficient method of public fire service delivery by reorganizing or combining fire service agencies. SCFPD initially served an area of approximately 195 square miles within the boundaries of Riverbank, Empire, La Grange and Waterford-Hickman Fire Protection Districts. At that time, the District had 52 full-time, paid employees and approximately 75 volunteers staffing two-person engine companies at all but one of the fire stations that was staffed with just one person. Today, SCFPD’s service area has grown to include unincorporated sections of East Modesto and, through contracts, the communities of Oakdale, Valley Home and Knights Ferry – a total of 523 square miles. These areas are now served by 77 full-time employees and an intern program staffing eight of the 10 fire stations with three-person engine companies. In 20 years, the District’s operating annual budget has grown from approximately $4 million with just $50,000 in reserves to $11.2 million with a healthy reserve balance for contingencies.

Fire Chief Randy Bradley acknowledges the significance of what was accomplished over the past 20 years and is excited to continue leading the organization into the future: “I believe the vision of reducing costs and improving service levels has been achieved and we will continue to consider regional opportunities to become even more efficient while providing the highest levels of service possible. I am very fortunate to be part of such a quality, progressive agency and work side-by-side with a stellar group of fire service professionals who are committed to serving our communities.”
