THUR, 2/19/15 at 10:38 PM, an ARMED ROBBERY occurred on the 30 block of W. Tennyson Road. The victim was walking through the parking lot when suspect #1 exited a parked vehicle and brandished a handgun at the victim, demanding his backpack. The victim refused and Suspect #1 “pistol whipped” the victim in the head. Suspect #1 took the backpack and fled in a vehicle occupied by suspect #2. Suspect #1 is described as a Hispanic male adult, 19 years, 5’8”, thin build, mustache and acne on face. He was wearing all dark clothing and had a silver semi-auto handgun in his right hand. Suspect #2 is described as a Filipino male adult, 19 years, heavy set, wearing a burgundy “Stanford” college sweatshirt.

FRI, 2/20/15 at 1:42 AM, an IN-CUSTODY ARREST FOR POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE occurred at Middle Lane and Clawiter Road. After receiving a suspicious person call from neighbors in the area, an officer noticed the possible suspect sleeping inside a vehicle. The officer conducted a DMV check on the vehicle and found it to be stolen out of Hayward. The suspect was detained without incident and arrested for the vehicle theft.


FRI, 2/20/15 at 7:17 AM, an ARMED ROBBERY WITH HANDGUN occurred on the 1100 block of W. Tennyson Road. A Hispanic male adult brandished a handgun at the store clerk and robbed the business of cash. The suspect fled on foot towards Pompano Avenue. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, early 20’s, 5’2 to 5’3, 130-140lbs., black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue baggy jeans. The suspect had a black semi-automatic handgun.

FRI, 2/20/15 at 3:08 PM, an ATTEMPT KIDNAPPING occurred on the 26000 block of Joshua Court. A 14-year-old female Tennyson High School student reported that a Hispanic male adult in a white 4-door vehicle tried to grab her and pull her into his car. She was able to escape and run to a nearby neighbor’s home. Hayward PD’s Criminal Investigations Bureau was notified and is investigating the case.

FRI, 2/20/15 at 5:00 PM, an ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON occurred at the intersection of Meek Avenue and Myrtle Street. The victim (who is a gang associate) was walking on Meek Ave when two Hispanic males exited their silver Ford Mustang and punched him in the face. The victim defended himself and overtook suspect #1. Suspect #2 armed (himself) with a tire iron and hit the victim once in the arm. Both suspects then fled the scene in the silver Mustang. All of the parties were later detained and the suspects were arrested. Both suspects are also known gang members.

FRI, 2/20/15 at 6:50 PM, A STRONG ARMED ROBBERY occurred near 50 W. Tennyson Road. The victim was walking toward the South Hayward BART station when the suspects approached him and threw him against a concrete wall. The suspects forcibly took the victim's backpack which contained his ID and cash. Victim's cell phone not taken and he was able to call Hayward PD relatively quickly. A nearby officer located suspect #1 on the BART platform and subsequently arrested him. Suspect #2,is described as a Black male adult, 25-30 years old, 6'2, 250lbs, goatee, last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans. He boarded a BART train and was able to elude capture. The victim's property was located on the ground (near) where suspect #1 was contacted.

FRI, 2/20/15 at 11:19 PM, an IN-CUSTODY ARREST FOR POSSESSION OF A FIREARM AND OBSTRUCTION TO AN INVESTIGATION occurred on the 2500 block of W. Winton Avenue. During a suspicious vehicle investigation, the officer stopped three members of a motorcycle gang. One subject fled and was detained by a nearby sergeant. The second subject was carrying a concealed handgun in his waistband. Both of these subjects were arrested and taken to jail. The Third subject was cooperative and released.

SAT, 2/21/15 at 6:00 PM, a DUI CHECKPOINT was conducted by Hayward PD’s Traffic Bureau at Foothill Boulevard and City Center Drive. 15 Officer’s, 2 Supervisors and 1 Community Service Officer; and 6 CHP-Hayward Officers were in attendance. 897 Vehicles passed through the checkpoint resulting in 10 Field Sobriety Tests, 2 DUI arrests, 23 Citations for unlicensed/suspended drivers, and 18 vehicles impounded.

SUN, 2/22/15 at 9:19 AM, SUSPICIOUS DEATH occurred on the 25000 block of Regal Avenue. A 40-year-old male was arguing with his wife the night before and had gone out for a walk. The man came back with an injury on his head (unknown cause). He went to sleep on the floor, and his wife found him deceased the following morning.

SUN, 2/22 at 4:13 PM, FIREARM RECOVERY/GANG ACTIVITY occurred on the 600 block of Memorial Way. A female called Hayward PD reporting that a male was at her door threatening to shoot her husband. Officers arrive quickly and detained the suspect. The suspect is a known gang member and was in possession of two unloaded firearms and ammunition. The suspect was arrested without incident.

MON, 2/23/15 at 10:53 PM, an IN CUSTODY ARREST FOR VEHICLE THEFT occurred on Sparrow Road and Osage Avenue. The victim saw his vehicle being driven by the suspect, called Hayward PD, and followed him. The suspect parked the vehicle at the corner of Sparrow Road and Swift Court and fled on foot while the victim gave chase. Officers arrived and located the suspect hiding on a porch on Lilac Ave. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and possibly linked to (another) vehicle theft and a burglary on Sparrow Road.

MON, 2/23/15 at 10:56 PM, ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF FIREARM occurred on the 28000 block of Sparrow Avenue. The victim, who was intoxicated, heard commotion outside of his home and went to investigate it. He noticed the victim (from the above stolen vehicle case) yelling at the suspect on the corner of Sparrow and Lilac Avenue. The victim decided that he was going to protect his home by grabbing his handgun and walking outside. The victim racked a round into the chamber and accidentally shot himself in his right hamstring. His wife secured the gun prior to police arrival and it was later retrieved for evidence. The victim was transported to the Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

TUE, 2/24/15 at 2:05 AM, AN IN-CUSTODY ARREST FOR BURGLARY occurred on the 900 block of Palisade. The reporting person called HPD and stated that an unknown male was attempting to break into the YMCA (on the Palisade side of the school.) A perimeter was quickly set up and the attempt burglary was confirmed. As officers start to walk into school, the suspect fled on foot and jumped over fences towards Mission Blvd. Officers gave chase but lost the suspect in a tall grassy hillside. A K-9 search was requested and during the search the suspect self-surrendered without incident.

TUE, 2/24/15 at 8:04 AM, an AUTO VERSUS PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT occurred on B Street and Watkins Street. A City of Hayward employee was crossing on Watkins Street (in the crosswalk) when she was struck by a vehicle. The employee suffered a hip injury and was transported to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle stopped and called 9-1-1.

TUE, 2/24/15 at 4:42 PM, a PROBATION/PAROLE SEARCH was conducted on the 27000 block of Sleepy Hollow Avenue. Hayward PD officers conducted a follow-up investigation to a burglary that occurred the previous day. No one was home when entry was made; and no property from the burglary was located. However, the officers did find evidence that the Probation/ Parolee suspect is involved in identity theft.

WED, 2/25/15 at 10:00 AM, a SMASH Operation occurred on the 900 block of Douglas Street. Officers from various divisions conducted the operation and located the suspect who was attempting to flee. The officers attempted to stop the suspect away from his residence but he evaded them and drove to his home where he was detained in his driveway. A probation search was conducted and a stolen semi-auto handgun was located. The suspect was arrested for reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, and possession of stolen property.
