Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

Case update: On Tuesday, 12-04-14 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a 77-year old male Daly City resident was fatally struck in the crosswalk at Highway 35 and Westridge Avenue. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene; however, the vehicle was described as a white 2004 Ford F-150 pick-up truck with a lumber rack. Through the efforts of the Investigations Division and Crime Suppression Unit, officers were able to track down and locate the suspect vehicle and found it belonged to 39-year old Joro Petrovmoray from Pacifica. Officers ultimately arrested him on Thursday 02-12-15 and booked him into the San Mateo County jail for the fatal hit and run collision.

On Friday, 02-13-15 at 1:06 p.m., Officer Reynante Asuncion was working a pedestrian and bicycle safety detail at Delong Street and John Daly Boulevard when he observed a bicyclist fail to yield the right-of-way to three pedestrians crossing inside the marked crosswalk. The officer contacted the subject, and he apologized for not giving the right-of-way. Dispatchers advised that the subject, a 27-year old Daly City resident, had an outstanding $20,000 felony warrant from the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear in court on a narcotics case. When searching the subject, the officer found a white square plastic container containing a small plastic baggie in the subject’s pants pocket. The baggie contained a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. In the subject’s backpack, officers found a container of brown dried fleshy fungus suspected to be psilocybin mushrooms, a large glass jar containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a small glass jar containing suspected powdered marijuana, a small glass pipe, and numerous other containers containing suspected powdered marijuana. Officers arrested the subject for the warrant and for possession of the narcotics.

On Saturday, 02-14-15, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers of the Crime Suppression Unit were advised that a suspect of a shooting that occurred in San Mateo the day before may be at an apartment on Coronado Avenue. Officers saw the suspect’s unoccupied vehicle and began surveillance. Later with the assistance of South San Francisco Police officers, the 20-year old subject was detained and turned over to the custody of the San Mateo Police Department.

On Sunday, 02-15-15 at 1:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Geneva Avenue on a report of a cab driver being punched and kicked in the face. As officers were responding to the scene, the dispatcher advised that the suspect fled on foot. The 60-year old cab driver said he picked up the intoxicated subject in San Francisco and said the subject refused to pay the fare. The victim lost consciousness and suffered major swelling to his head and face, requiring medical attention. A photo of the suspect has been circulated on our social media sites (Facebook, Twitter & Nixle) in hope that someone can identify him.
