On 02-17-15 at approximately 8:30 PM Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Santa Fe Avenue and Berkeley Road just outside of Turlock, CA for a person who had been shot. When deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived, 25 year old Steven Elliot Losey of Riverbank, CA was immediately transported to the emergency room where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The preliminary investigation shows that witnesses saw Losey driving erratically and he crashed on the shoulder of Berkeley Road. When bystanders went to help Losey they found he had been shot and called 911. Just after 9:00 PM detectives learned that a second victim had arrived to a hospital in Merced County with a non-life threatening gunshot wound and it appeared that it was related to the homicide detectives were already investigating. The second victim is an adult male and at this point in the investigation it is not known what the relationship is between he and Losey.
Early this morning detectives located what they believe to be the crime scene a short distance from where Losey crashed his vehicle. Detectives have spent the afternoon processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.
