The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area.  This advisory is in effect from 1PM on Saturday, 2/14, through the afternoon on Monday, 2/16.  The following conditions are being forecast by the National Weather Service at this time:

• Snow: 3-5 inches with locally higher amounts that may reach 8 inches (Saturday afternoon – Sunday morning)
• Winds: 25-35 MPH, with gusts up to 50+ MPH
• Temperatures: falling into the teens tonight and Sunday, 5-10 degrees below zero Sunday night into Monday morning
• Wind chill: 25-30 degrees below zero after midnight Sunday through noon Monday

Temperatures will continue to fall throughout the weekend with Sunday night into Monday morning being the coldest.  Strong winds and blowing snow may cause whiteout conditions at times, limiting visibility to less than one-half mile.  Travel will be dangerous due to the snow and strong winds with near blizzard conditions.  The winds may also cause power lines and trees to fall.  Consider all downed power lines to be live and dangerous, and report these conditions to the North Castle PD.

Limit your travels during this storm as the roads will be treacherous.  The very low temperatures in combination with the high winds may create potentially life-threatening conditions.  Limit your time outside and ensure that you have adequate heat and that all heating appliances are working correctly.  Should the need arise, a warming center will be opened.
