Police Blotter Feb 3 - 5

February 3rd

Vehicle Theft- Charles Ave. at Edwards Ave.
At 1000 hours, an officer checked on a suspicious vehicle and discovered it was reported stolen to the San Rafael Police Department on 01/05.

Vehicle Theft- 6600 Block of Gatto Ave.
An unknown suspect stole a 2000 Honda Civic on 02/03 between 0800 and 1230 hours.

Burglary (Vehicle)- 6400 Block of Hagen Blvd.
Between 02/02 at 1900 hours and 02/03 at 0700 hours, an unknown suspect broke off the victim’s windshield wiper and used it to unlock the door through a cracked window. The suspect damaged the vehicle’s ignition column and stole the radio.

Juvenile Counseling- 1700 block of Liberty Street
At 2016 hours, an officer responded to a request from a frustrated mother who was having difficulty with her teenage daughter. After the mother took away her daughter’s cell phone as punishment, the daughter became angry and a minor physical altercation occurred. The officer counseled the teen and restored peace in the home.

February 4th

Shoplifting/Burglary- 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1255 hours, officers responded to Safeway on the report of a subject who just fled the store with alcohol. While circulating the area officers located and detained a 17 year-old juvenile from Richmond. The juvenile was booked at the ECPD and then released to a guardian.

Community Outreach (City Wide)
During the mid morning hours, an ECPD officer teamed up with Contra Costa County Mental Health workers and checked the welfare of persons whom have interacted with the ECPD during a mental health crisis. The goal of the contact was not only check on the person’s welfare, but also to remind them about services which are available to them.

Theft of Bicycle Parts- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 1934 hours, an officer was flagged down at Potrero Avenue and Eastshore Avenue by a witness who chased a theft suspect from Safeway on foot and lost sight of him in the area. The suspect, described as a tall white male in his 20’s or 30’s, stole two bicycle wheels from a locked bicycle in the bike rack in front of the store. The witness chased the suspect on foot and recovered one of the wheels however he lost sight of him in the parking lot of the Mira Vista Hotel. No victim was able to be located at Safeway and the manager was told to contact police if a victim comes forward.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle- Macdonald Avenue and 40th Street
At 2031 hours, an officer on patrol near Conlon Avenue and Junction Avenue received a LoJack hit on a vehicle reported stolen to San Pablo PD earlier in the day. A CHP helicopter had received the same LoJack hit an hour earlier but they were unable to locate the car. The officer was able to track down and locate the parked and unoccupied gray 1999 Acura Integra on 40th Street near Macdonald Avenue.

Public Intoxication and Probation Violation- San Pablo Avenue and Blake Street
At 2124 hours, an officer noticed a 37 year old transient man standing in front of Atlas Liquors. The officer was aware that the man is prohibited from being within 100 yards of Atlas Liquors due to a court ordered probation. The officer contacted the man and determined that he was also extremely intoxicated. The officer arrested the man, booked him at the El Cerrito Police Department, and then transported him to county jail in Martinez.

Vandalism- Village of Town Center 10810 San Pablo Avenue
At 2223 hours, officers responded to a silent alarm at the leasing office. Officers discovered that the front glass door was shattered and they detained a 35 year old woman nearby. The officer determined that the woman was responsible for breaking the glass door with a hammer after she became upset for not being able to reach a representative of the building at the office. The manager declined to seek prosecution and the woman was released.

Vehicle Pursuit- San Pablo Avenue and Barrett Avenue
At 0041 hours, an officer attempted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. The driver fled southbound on San Pablo Avenue into the city of Albany. The pursuit was terminated due to the concern for public safety and the driver was not apprehended.

Hit and Run Collision / Driving Under the Influence- 9900 block of San Pablo Ave
At 0145 hours, officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision in the parking lot of the Blue Moon Saloon. A witness provided the license plate to the suspect vehicle which fled northbound on Carlson Boulevard. An officer waited at the registered owner’s home and when the 45 year old female driver from Richmond returned she was detained. An officer conducted field sobriety tests and determined that she was impaired. The officer took the woman into custody and transported her to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the woman was released with a citation to a sober friend.

February 5th

Armed Robbery - Nations 6060 Central Ave
At approximately 0512 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to Nations for an armed robbery that just occurred. Suspect-1 pointed a black handgun at one of the employees and demanded the cash from the till. The employee removed $200 from the till and handed the money to Suspect-2. Both suspects fled the business on foot westbound through the parking lot. The suspects possibly fled in large light colored SUV with tinted window westbound onto Central Ave.

Suspect-1 is described as a white male adult, 6’0”, 180lbs., slim build, blue eyes, and blonde hair, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, a blue bandana covering the lower portion of his face, blue jeans, and armed with a black handgun.

Suspect-2 is described as a black male adult, dark complexion, 5’10, 180lbs., slim build, wearing a black jacket, a black beanie and carrying a white plastic bag.
