Sergeant Al Garcia, Special Victims Bureau, will be available to the media to answer question regarding the inappropriate searches of students at Dominguez High School by the school principal, Thursday, February 12, 2015 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at Sheriff’s Training Academy and Regional Services Center located at 11515 South Colima Road, Whittier, in front of room D106. Special Victims Bureau detectives are investigating allegations of inappropriate searching of students, at Dominguez High School, Compton, by the school principal.

Several students disclosed being searched by the principal in an inappropriate manner. Some of the searches were witnessed by school staff members. The searches made all victims and witnesses feel very uncomfortable. Special Victims Bureau detectives have interviewed ten students and seven Dominguez High School staff members. Five of those ten interviews, confirmed the inappropriate searches by the school’s principal. As the investigation continues, more students and school employees will be interviewed.

The case was initially reported by a mandated reporter to Special Victims Bureau on February 4, 2015, and as of February 5, 2015 the investigation is still on-going. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s after all interviews are completed.

On February 10, 2015, the principal was placed on administrative leave by the Compton School District. Dominguez High School principal had been assigned to the high school since July 1, 2014.
