OSBI Oil Field Theft Agents Arrest Edmond Man

This morning, members of the OSBI Oil Field Theft Unit arrested an Edmond man after a lengthy investigation into stolen oil field equipment. Agents executed a felony warrant against Craig Lario Bates (d.o.b. 6/17/45), arresting him at his home at 1401 Eagle Drive. He was arrested for four counts of receiving/concealing stolen construction/farm equipment.
Mid 2013, agents began investigating reports of oil field equipment stolen from Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas. August 2013 agents served a search warrant at Bates’ business in the 7200 block of South Council Road in Oklahoma County. Agents recovered more than $2.5 million worth of stolen oil field equipment there. Since then, agents have worked to find evidence of others involved in the crimes. So far, no other arrests have been made.
