The Angels Camp Police Department conducted DUI Saturation Patrol on January 31st and February 1, 2015. Four DUI arrests were made.

On January 31, 2015 at approximately 9:15 PM, Angels Camp Police Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Main Street for a report of a vehicle that had hit a building and the driver left the area. Officers arrived and located 71 year old Angels Camp resident, Jimmy Weber, being detained by a group of citizens. Weber admitted to driving the vehicle and hitting a nearby ore cart and stair railing. Officers determined that Weber was under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently arrested. Weber was booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for 23152(a) CVC- DUI Alcohol, 23152(b) CVC – DUI Blood Alcohol Concentration .08% or more, 20002(a) CVC- Hit and Run, Property Damage.

On January 31, 2015 at approximately 10:00 PM, an Angels Camp Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on South Main Street near Pine Street for driving at a high rate of speed and running a stop sign. The driver was identified as 43 year old Jackson resident, Alfred Martinez. Martinez was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested. He was booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for 23152(a) CVC- DUI Alcohol, and 23152(b) CVC – DUI Blood Alcohol Concentration .08% or more.

On January 31, 2015 at approximately 11:15 PM, an Angels Camp Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 4 near Borbe Ranch Road for expired registration. The driver was identified as 48 year old Vallecito resident, Russell Irish. Irish was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested. Irish was booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for 23152(a) CVC- DUI Alcohol, 23152(b) CVC – DUI Blood Alcohol Concentration .08% or more.

On February 1, 2015 at approximately 10:15 PM, an Angels Camp Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on South Main Street near Stockton Road for equipment violations. The driver was identified as 62 year old Sonora resident, Christopher Lynch. Lynch was evaluated and determined to be driving under the influence of narcotics. An Angels Camp Police Department K9 conducted a sniff of the exterior of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search was made of the interior of the vehicle, and Officers located approximately .2 grams of methamphetamine, and several different types of pills. Lynch was arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for 23152(e) CVC – DUI Drug, 11550(a) HS- Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, and 11377(a) HS- Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The Angels Camp Police Department will be conducting future DUI Checkpoints and DUI Saturation Patrols in the upcoming months in our ongoing commitment to lowering deaths and injuries upon our streets and highways.
