It was a chance encounter that turned into an adventure.
Earlier this month, Little Luke was at a taco shop with his family in El Cajon when he saw Sheriff's Deputies ahead of them in line. He asked his mom if they were "cops" and Luke's mom said "Yes."
Luke then walked towards the deputies. He thanked them for their service and Luke said they were his heroes.
This unexpected and kind gesture warmed the hearts of Sheriff's Deputies. The deputies were assigned to the Emergency Services Division which includes Sheriff's ASTREA (helicopters), Bomb/Arson, Search and Rescue, K-9, Off-Road Enforcement Team, as well as SED/SWAT.
They were so touched by Luke's heartfelt words they decided to show him some really cool stuff. After lunch, they invited Luke and his family to where the Sheriff's Helicopters are parked. Luke got a chance to hop on the patrol and firefighting helicopters, as well as the SWAT trucks.
The visit totally made Luke's day and of course he wants to be a deputy someday.
Thank you again Luke for recognizing the great work and sacrifices deputies make every day. We can't wait until you're all grown up to become a deputy.
