Weather Statement - Coastal Flooding
Monday, January 26, 2015 -- 3:00PM
ATTENTION BAY FRONT AND LAGOON RESIDENTS
COASTAL FLOOD WARNING in effect for Ocean County for the early Tuesday morning high tide.
Besides being a major snow event, this coastal storm will bring the real potential of moderate tidal or coastal flooding at the time of high tide early Tuesday morning.
Strong northeast winds that will be sustained between 20mph to 30mph with gust approaching 50mph will make conditions very favorable for coastal flooding.
Bay front and lagoon residents should take the necessary precautions NOW to protect property prior to the high tide early Tuesday morning. Do not park cars in areas that typically flood during coastal storms. Also, secure all outside items and take down flags.
Please monitor your favorite media outlet for updated forecast and other statements pertaining to the moderate coastal flooding that is anticipated to occur with the high tide of early Tuesday morning.
Barnegat and Ocean Townships will be issuing additional joint emergency management statements on the approaching coastal storm that will bring severe winter weather and coastal flooding to the area.
