January 20th

Auto Burglary- 9895 San Pablo Ave., Peet’s Coffee
At 0830, hours an unknown suspect shattered the window of a BMW and stole a laptop.

Vehicle Theft, Poss. of a Controlled Substance and Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave. at Plumas Ave.
At 1255 hours, officers arrested a 43 year-old man from Martinez for driving a stolen Hyundai. Officers also arrested the three passengers, a 25 year-old female from Concord, a 23 year-old female from San Pablo and a 31 year-old man from Pittsburg for being in possession of stolen property. During the investigation officers also found the man from Pittsburg was in possession of methamphetamine and also had an outstanding arrest for his arrest. All the parties were booked at the ECPD.

Vehicle Theft- San Pablo Ave. at Potrero Ave.
At 1533 hours, officers arrested a 34 year-old man from Richmond for driving a stolen U-haul pickup truck. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.


January 21st

Burglary- 700 Block of Albemarle St.
An unknown suspect kicked in the backdoor of the victim’s residence and then removed electronic items. The theft occurred on 01/21, between 1345 and 1600 hours.

Arrest for Shoplifiting, Flee from officers, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 2245 hours El Cerrito police officers were dispatched to a theft that just occurred. The Safeway manager followed the suspect to Del Norte BART station. While checking the BART platform El Cerrito police officers located the suspect, a 53 year old male from San Pablo on the East platform. After a brief foot pursuit, the male was taken into custody. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.


Commercial Burglary – 5800 block of Central Ave
At approximately 0308 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to the abandoned business after a neighbor heard noise coming from inside. Officers searched the building but did not locate anyone inside. Unknown suspect(s) pried open the rear downstairs padlock doors to gain entry into the building. Officer’s contacted the owner of the building and the owner advised they will have someone secure the building.


January 22nd

Vehicle Theft, Poss. of Stolen Property and Poss. of Burglary Tools- San Pablo Ave. at Bayview Ave:
At 0757 hours, an officer conducted a high-risk stop on a stolen vehicle and arrested the driver, a 29 year-old female from Richmond. Officers also arrested the passengers, a 32 year-old female from Richmond and a 33 year-old man from Richmond. During the investigation officers discovered the female passenger was in possession of numerous burglary instruments used to steal cars. The driver was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest- Moeser Lane and BART Path:
At 1617 hours, an officer arrested a 52 year-old homeless man on several outstanding warrants during a pedestrian stop. The man was booked at the ECPD and then cited.

Burglary- 6400 Block of Hagen Blvd.
An unknown suspect entered an unlocked residence and stole a bicycle, power washer and an iPad. The theft occurred on 01/22 between 0700 and 1530 hours.

Warrant Arrest - Walgreens parking lot 11565 San Pablo Ave
During a traffic stop at 1710 hours an El Cerrito police officer arrested a 28 year old male from Richmond on a $15K traffic warrant out of Marin County. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Attempted Auto Burglary - Eureka Ave at Kearney St
At approximately 0325 hours El Cerrito police officers were dispatched to a call of shots fired and a male screaming in the area. The victim who stated he was asleep in the back seat of his vehicle when an unknown suspect smashed open his front passenger side window in an attempt to take a backpack. The victim yelled and chased after the suspect, but lost sight of him. Officers circulated the area but did not locate anyone.

Burglary and Warrant Arrest - 5800 block of Central Ave.
At approximately 0410 hours, while conducting a security check at an abandoned business/residence, an El Cerrito police officer noticed lights and movement coming from the basement. A request for a K9 was made and a Richmond K9 handler and his K9 partner arrived. During a search of the building a 45 year old male from Richmond refused to exit the building and had to be extracted by the K9 from the building. A 40 year old male from San Pablo immediately gave up and was taken into custody. The male from San Pablo had a $20K warrant out of Richmond PD. Both males were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and as transported to MDF.

Assist to an Outside Agency – Colusa Ave at Lynn Ave
At approximately 0415 hours El Cerrito police officers assisted Kensington PD with a collision involving a possible impaired driver. El Cerrito police officers conducted Field Sobriety Test for Kensington PD. The driver was deemed not to be impaired. Kensington PD released the driver from the scene.
