Police Blotter Jan 16th - Jan 19th

January 16TH

Criminal threats – Korematsu Middle School, 1021 Navellier St.
At 1147 hours, officers were dispatched to Korematsu Middle School after someone called and stated that they were going to harm students on campus. Officers arrived and the principal of the school placed the school in lockdown. Officers at the El Cerrito High School stated that they received a telephone call as well. Identifying information for the caller was located and officers contacted a 28-year-old Richmond man at his residence. The man was determined to have a diminished mental capacity and unaware of the consequences of his actions. The man’s mother agreed to control her son’s cell phone access in the future.

Grand theft – 6400 block of Fairmount Ave.
Between 0650 and 0706 hours, two unknown suspects stole a large metal statue from the rear of a business.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – Santa Clara Ave. / Central Avenue:
At 2104 hours, an officer checked a suspicious vehicle and determined it had been stolen earlier in the day in Alameda. It was released to the owner after evidence processing.

False Information to Police Officer / Suspended License – S. 55th Street / Potrero Avenue
At 2148 hours an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 24 years old Richmond woman provided a false name. When an investigation revealed her real name, she continued to deny her true identity. She was then arrested, booked and issued a citation.

Theft – Disorderly Conduct – 11319 San Pablo Avenue – Chevron
At 2214 hours, an officer responded to the report of a chronically inebriated subject stealing a candy bar from the gas station. His theft of items at the store is a persistent issue. The subject, a 54 year old Richmond resident fled the store and was found hiding behind a pillar under the freeway on ramp at Potrero Avenue. He was also found to be heavily intoxicated. His level of intoxication was so great that he required emergency medical services so he was issued a citation and transported to the Hospital.

January 17th

Warrant Arrest – Carlson Blvd / San Pablo Avenue:
At 0016 hours, an officer spotted a 52 year old El Cerrito woman who had two warrants for her arrest. She was stopped, arrested and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 1600 block of Kearney Street:
At 0321 hours, an officer located a Mazda reported as stolen on January 15th, 2015 to the El Cerrito Police Department. The Mazda was released to the owner at the scene.

Recovered stolen vehicle – Kearney St. / Cutting Blvd.
At 0804 hours, an officer recovered a 1999 Chevy Prizm that had been reported stolen to SFPD on 12/31/14.

Auto burglary – 3300 block of Yosemite Ave.
Between 1/16/15 at 1830 hours and 1/17/15 at 1130 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the driver window and stole a silver ipod.

Possession of a controlled substance, Under the influence of a controlled substance – 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At 1200 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and found a 41-year-old transient man who was under the influence of methamphetamine. A search of the man produced a syringe loaded with methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Miscellaneous Investigation – 10070 San Pablo Ave.
Between 0000 hours and 1200 hours, an unknown suspect wrote the word “Nazi” on a movie poster in red and blue marker. The marker was easily wiped off.

January 18TH

Warrant Arrests – Methamphetamine Possession – Knott Avenue / Key Blvd:
At 0116 hours, an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check. The driver of the vehicle, a 37 year old Richmond resident was wanted on a felony warrant. She had drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of suspected methamphetamines. A passenger in the vehicle claimed to be her 16 year old juvenile niece, however an investigation revealed she was in fact a 26 year old Marin woman who was wanted on a burglary warrant. Both were booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention facility in Martinez.

Petty theft from auto – 800 block of Norvell St.
Between 1/17/15 1300 hours and 1/18/15 0800 hours, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole an ipad 3.

Auto burglary – 600 block of Kearney St.
Between 1/17/15 1800 hours and 1/18/15 0945 hours, an unknown suspect smashed front passenger window and stole a black purse containing credit cards and identification.

Petty theft from auto – 200 block of Carmel Ave.
At 1000 hours, witnesses saw a black male adult in his 20’s, 5’10, 160, wearing a green sweatshirt enter the victim’s unlocked vehicle and steal a silver ipod nano.

Auto burglary – 400 block of Kearney St.
Between 1/17/15 1130 hours and 1/18/15 0948 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and stole a white/black backpack containing laptops and computer equipment.

Warrant arrest – Blake St. / Lexington Ave.
At 1404 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 46-year-old El Cerrito man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto burglary – 500 block of Lexington Ave.
Between 1/18/15 0200 hours and 1/18/15 1100 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the rear driver’s side window and stole a dark brown briefcase containing a laptop.

Theft from Auto – 711 Hancock Wy
At 1759 hours, an officer responded to the theft of a generator from the bed of a truck. The generator was stolen by an unidentified suspect in between 1500-1730 hours.



Theft from Auto – 7345 Fairmount Avenue:
At 1807 hours, an officer responded to the report that an unidentified suspect rifled through a vehicle and stole change. The theft occurred sometime during the preceding 24 hours.

Heroin Possession – Liberty Street / Eureka Avenue
At 2233 hours, an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check. The driver of the vehicle, a 52 year old Richmond resident was found to be in possession of a ½ gram of suspected heroin. He was booked and issued a citation at the ECPD.

January 19th

Domestic Violence Restraining Order Violation / Controlled Substance Paraphernalia / Probation Violation – 800 blk of Elm Street:
At 0234 hours, officers contacted a probationer who was prohibited from being near a person he was with by court order. The probationer, a 28 year old El Cerrito man was arrested and also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Possession of a stolen vehicle, Providing false information to police – 3400 block of Belmont Ave.
At 0724, an officer located an Acura MDX that had been reported stolen to Berkeley PD on 1/15/15. While examining the vehicle, two subjects exited a residence, saw the officer and ducked back inside the house. Officers made contact with 5 subjects at the residence conducted records checks of the individuals. A 52-year-old transient man was arrested for an outstanding warrant. A 30-year-old Alameda man lied about his identity to officers. When his true identity was revealed, officers learned that he was on probation for possession of stolen property. The man was arrested for providing false information to police and searched. The key to the stolen Acura MDX was located in his pocket. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
