NARRATIVE:

Sheriff's Deputies in Palmdale are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting and injury of a 3-year-old in the 38000 block of 65^th Street East, Palmdale. 

Deputies responded to a call of three to five gunshots heard at the location.  Upon arrival, deputies were directed to a gun-shot victim, a 3-year-old boy, inside the location.

Preliminary investigation indicates gunshots were fired at the location, where one or more bullets penetrated the exterior wall and struck the victim in the lower back, as he slept in his crib.  Another bullet was found lodged in the parent’s mattress.

Fortunately the victim was wrapped in a heavy blanket.  The impact of the bullet only caused a large bruise and small burn on the victim, but did not penetrate his body.  He was immediately transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. 

The unknown suspect(s) fled the location on foot.  There is no description at this time. The victim’s family has no known or suspected gang affiliation. The investigation is on-going.
