December 29th

Burglary- 540 Ashbury Ave, El Cerrito High School:
An unknown suspect forced entry into the old restrooms location on the football field and stole numerous tools. The theft occurred between 12/24 and 12/29.

Petty Theft and Warrant Arrest- 11450 San Pablo Ave., Safeway:
At 1651 hours, an ECPD officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 51 year-old man from Berkeley for stealing items from the store. During the investigation officers learned the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Theft- Cutting Blvd. at Key Blvd:
A citizen reports their 1995 Honda Accord was stolen on the 29th between 0700 and 1715 hours.

Vehicle Theft/Recovery- Liberty St. at Hill St:
At 2142 hours, an officer accepted a stolen vehicle report from a victim who reported her 1991 Honda Accord was stolen on 12/29 between 0510 and 1540 hours. The vehicle was located later parked at the intersection of Key Blvd. and Humboldt Ave. The vehicle was recovered and released to the owner.

Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave. at Plumas Ave:
At 2258 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 33 year-old woman from El Cerrito for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the ECPD and then released to a sober person.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered- Key Blvd. at Humboldt Ave:
At 2258 hours, an officer located a 1988 Mazda pickup truck which was reported stolen to the Oakland Police Department.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered- Morris Ave. at Junction Ave:
At 0343 hours, an officer recovered a 1996 Honda Civic which was reported stolen to the San Rafael Police Department.

December 30th

Homeless Outreach- Various locations through the City
On 12/29, an officer and community service officer contacted numerous homeless persons who were sleeping or loitering around the City. The officers provided each person with an extensive list of resources which are available to them. In addition to providing a list of resources, the officers also offered to transport each person they contacted to a local shelter. Ultimately, three people were transported to a shelter which provides many additional resources.

Burglary- 700 Block of Richmond St:
Between 12/29 at 1700 hours and 12/30 at 0730 hours, an unknown suspect forced entry into a Toyota Rav 4 and stole miscellaneous property valued at over 400 dollars.


Attempted Burglary- 500 Block of Norvell St:
Between 12/29 at 1700 hours and 12/30 at 1000 hours, an unknown suspect forced entry into a camper shell on a truck but were unsuccessful.

Warrant Arrest- 11299 San Pablo Ave:
At 1634 hours, officers arrested 41 year-old female from San Pablo on an outstanding warrant during a disturbance call. The female was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

December 31st

Burglary- 540 Ashbury Ave., El Cerrito High School
Between 12/30 at 1530 hours and 12/31 and 0650 hours, an unknown subject forced entry into a mobile construction office and stole numerous power tools for a loss over five thousand dollars.

Forgery, Vehicle Theft, Poss. of Methamphetamine and Warrant Arrest- 9800 San Pablo Ave., Wells Fargo:
At 0921 hours, officers were dispatched to Wells Fargo on the report of a person attempting to withdraw money from a fraudulent account. Officers arrived on scene and contacted a 19 year-old man from Rodeo who opened an account the day prior and deposited a fraudulent check. Today the man was trying to withdraw money from the account, but the account had already been flagged as fraudulent. Officers arrested the man for forgery, an outstanding warrant and for being in possession of methamphetamine. Officers were also determined the subject drove himself to the bank in a BMW which was reported stolen to the San Rafael Police Department. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Burglary- 10546 San Pablo Ave:
On 12/31 between 1830 and 1856 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the window of a Volkswagen and stole property from the vehicle.

Possession of Marijuana, Driving With a Suspended License and Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave. at Panama Ave:
At 2345 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and discovered the driver had a suspended license. The driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and he was also in possession of over 2.5 pounds of marijuana. The driver, a 29 year-old man from Emeryville was arrested, booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation.


January 1st
Hit and Run- 500 Block of Ashbury Ave:
At 0041 hours, officers responded to the listed location on the report of a loud noise. Upon arrival on scene officers discovered an unknown vehicle struck a telephone pole and fled the scene. Officers followed a trail of various vehicle fluids which led them to Ashbury Ave. and Moeser Ln. Officers contacted an 18 year-old Richmond man with his damaged vehicle. The man was subsequently arrested and released with a citation. Apparently the driver fell asleep prior to the collision and decided to flee since he did not have insurance.

Driving Under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage – 1200 block of Elm Street:
At 0237 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The officer arrested the driver, a 23 year old Richmond male for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The man was booked and released on a citation.


Warrant Arrest- 3400 Block of Belmont Ave.
At 1034 hours, officers arrested a 51 year-old homeless woman on an outstanding arrest warrant during a disturbance call. The woman was booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation.

Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2359 hours, an officer responded to the report of a suspect fighting with store employees The employee was attempting to retrieve stolen property from the suspect. During the scuffle, a customer was knocked over. The suspect fled the scene towards Hills Street.
