EMA Announcements for 2015

The Madison County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency has a few announcements to make for the new year.

1.  In order to better communicate with our followers and citizens in Madison County, EMA has selected Nixle has our mass notification system for community alerts, advisories, and emergency notifications.  Nixle.com is a mass notification system with thousands of subscribers throughout the country and locally several agencies utilize this company as well.   Neighboring communities, such as:  Hamilton County, Grant County, Noblesville, Indianapolis as well as the Indiana State Police, DNR-Law Enforcement Division, Excise Police and numerous other state and local agencies.   Users who have previously signed up with Amatra, will be automatically rolled into our new system and will require no actions.  We encourage all citizens in Madison County sign up to receive emergency notifications as well as other important alerts.

2.  EMA would also like to welcome Sheriff Mellinger and his staff as they lead the Madison County Sheriff's Department into the next 4 years.   Sheriff Mellinger returns to the office with great experience and knowledge of a full career in law enforcement.   EMA works very closely with the Madison County Sheriffs Department and our relationship will continue to grow and develop in the coming years.

3. Today is the first day of the new Madison County Consolidated Communications agency.   Madison Co. Consolidated Communications is the new joint agency, which has combined City of Anderson 911 and Madison County 911 dispatchers into one single agency.   Nick Capozzoli was named the Director of the Madison Co. Consolidated Communications Center. Welcome on board, Nick Capozoli.

4.  The new Madison County Emergency Operations Center is quickly transforming and becoming fully operational at the new facility. In late December, volunteers began the moving process to move from the facility on 600N into the new facility on Mounds Road.   This week, various divisions within EMA will begin holding their monthly meetings at the new facility as work continues.   It is our goal to have the new EOC fully functional by 3/1/2015.  We are still working with the electrical contractor to install the emergency backup generator and various IT components necessary to support public safety during an emergency or disaster situation. In the mean time, the EOC on 600N is still operational and the Mobile EOC is available in the event an activation is necessary.

5.  More to come in early 2015 but we will keep that a secret right now.  Stay tuned and follow us on social media, our website, and Nixle to keep current on our activities.   2015 is sure to be an exciting year for MCEMA!
