On December 29, 2014 at approximately 7:00 PM, Angels Camp Police Officers were dispatched to the Save Mart parking lot as a result of multiple calls from a male caller stating he was going to kill any police officers that arrived in the Save Mart parking lot.
The caller identified himself as 22 year old Sonora resident, Logan Downey. Downey advised he was in the rear parking lot of the store and in possession of a 9mm Glock handgun.
Units from the Calaveras Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol arrived to assist in locating Downey.
Downey was located and arrested near the Angels Camp Police Department. He was not in possession of a handgun at the time he was arrested and advised he never had a handgun. A thorough check of the area was conducted and no firearms were located.
Downey was booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for public intoxication, resisting arrest, and making threats to the police.
