Holiday Impaired Driving Awareness
featuring
The DUI Victims Moving Memorial

(Harrisburg, PA) -The Pennsylvania DUI Association's DUI Victims Moving Memorial will be present at Weis Market, 7801 Glenlivet Drive West, Fogelsville on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 10 am to 1 pm to remind everyone to make a commitment to not drive impaired during this holiday season.

Thousands of Pennsylvania families have needlessly lost loved ones at the hands of someone who made the conscious decision after drinking to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive on our highways. As a result, some families will have to go through the holidays with an empty chair at their dinner table. That chair will never be filled because their loved one was killed by an impaired driver. This moving memorial is a tribute to those victims.

Upper Macungie Township Police officers will be on hand to remind everyone that they will be vigilantly patrolling the highways for drunk and/or drugged drivers and underage drinkers.

The upcoming holiday travel season is one of the most dangerous times of the year on our highways due to impaired driving.

During the Christmas and New Year's holidays last year, 521 of the statewide crashes involved a driver impaired by drugs or alcohol, with 35 fatalities resulting from those crashes.

Underage consumption of alcoholic beverages add to the dangers of the season

The Pennsylvania DUI Association is a not-for-profit professional association dedicated to reducing the harm and destruction caused by those who make the conscious decision to drive impaired.
