Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Media Release UPDATE: Man Charged With Murder Of A Gloucester Township Woman 12-12-2014

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle reported a man has been arrested in the fatal beating of a Gloucester Township woman. Miguel Angel Diaz, M/30, last known address of Mount Laurel, is charged with first-degree Murder in the death of 59-year-old Susan D. Johnson. Diaz is accused of fatally beating Johnson sometime December 5 in her home on the first block of Skyline Drive in Gloucester Township following an argument over money.

Diaz and an adult female witness had been staying in the house with Johnson. After the murder, Diaz allegedly transported Johnson’s body to a wooded area near Willow Ridge Park in Evesham Township, Burlington County. Gloucester Township Police had gone to Johnson’s home Thursday for a well-being check after she was reported missing. Officers found signs of a struggle inside the residence. During the course of the investigation, detectives developed information about Diaz and the witness. Both were detained by police in Evesham early Friday and taken to Gloucester Township Police headquarters for questioning. The witness provided information that led police the location of Johnson’s body. A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of Johnson’s death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

Diaz is scheduled to be arraigned 11 a.m. Monday before Superior Court Judge Edward McBride. All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
