SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Single vehicle personal injury crash involving a school bus
DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at approximately 2:56 P.M.
LOCATION: Dagget Road at Tamarack Road, Reynolds Township

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a school bus that lost control and crashed into trees on Wednesday, December 10th at approximately 2:56 PM.

The investigation revealed that the Tri County School Bus was travelling south on Dagget Road approaching the curve where the road turns into Tamarack Road. The bus driver, Penny Grear age 41 from Coral, lost control on icy roads as she entered the curve and left the road striking some trees. There were five students on the bus at the time. A seven year old and seventeen year old student was transported from the scene by ambulance to Spectrum Health/Helen Devos Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A sixteen year old and twelve year old student received minor injuries, were treated at the scene, and released to their parents. A fifteen year old student and the driver were not injured in the crash. The fifteen year old was turned over to her parents at the scene.

The driver of the school bus was cited for Failure To Use Due Care Caution While Operating A Motor Vehicle.

Assisting at the scene were the Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services, The Howard City Fire Department, and the Michigan State Police.
