CPD Investigating Attempted Sexual Assault

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook and Investigators with the Special Victims Unit are releasing a sketch of what an attempted sexual assault suspect may look like.

A SLED forensic artist designed the sketch for the investigation.
The female victim tells CPD Investigators that she was grabbed by an unknown male while she walked along the 1300 block of Pickens Street shortly after 1:30 this afternoon.

The suspect allegedly forced her to a nearby area where he tried to sexually assault her.

The victim screamed repeatedly and alerted a nearby witness who quickly ran to help the female. Once the suspect heard the witness, he ran from the scene. A K9 team responded to search for him.

The suspect is described as a black male, possibly between the ages of 20-30-years-old. He may be 5’9” tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a black shirt, black pants and tennis shoes.

EMS was called to assist the victim at the scene.
