Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews are continuing repair of a broken 12-inch main at 24 Puiwa Rd. in Nuuanu.
Crews are working to remove and replace about 11-1/2 feet of the damaged pipe. A spigot on a nearby hydrant and a water wagon are still serving as water sources for the five customers who have been without water since 7 a.m., when the main broke. Earlier, the BWS was able to successfully reroute water to the St. Francis Hospice.
The BWS hopes to restore water service sometime in the early evening hours, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Puiwa Rd., between Pali Highway and Park St. remains closed to traffic and motorists are advised to please use an alternate route.
