RPD-Crash Involving Sscool Child.

Community Information,

The Riverside Police Department is releasing the following limited information as we are still involved in an accident investigation at this time. On today’s date, Thursday November 20, 2014 at 3:09 p.m., a 10-year-old child was struck while she was crossing in a marked crosswalk at Longcommon and Herrick. The crossing guard was also in the intersection assisting the student across the street from the west to the east and had the stop sign out. The vehicle’s driver disregarded the crossing guard and struck the 10-year-old student causing the student to flip over the hood of the car and land on the roadway. This child’s injuries were not serious and the child is now back at home with her parents.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident and Riverside Police have now apprehended the offender and the offender has been taken into custody. More information will be released on this incident late Friday morning or early afternoon as the case is still ongoing at this time.
