HDPS asking public to ID person in carjacking case.

Holland police are reviewing surveillance video as they work to catch the person who stole a 72-year-old woman’s SUV.

The carjacking happened around 11 p.m. Friday in a local business parking lot.

Police say the victim, who was loading items into the back of her Ford Escape, was approached by a man who offered to clear off the snow on the windshield for cash.

Instead, he grabbed her keys and stole the SUV, according to the Holland Department of Public Safety. As he drove away, the rear lift gate was still open.The suspect is described as a heavyset white man who is around 25 to 35 years old. He was last seen wearing a dark winter jacket.

The Escape was found Wednesday afternoon, abandoned in a parking lot in downtown Zeeland.
