INCIDENT: PC 664/187 - Attempted Murder

LOCATION: Lenwood Road near Old Highway 58, Barstow

SUSPECT: Christopher Martinez, age 25, a resident of Barstow

VICTIM: Hispanic Female, age 30, a resident of Barstow

SUMMARY:
On November 17th, 2014, at approximately 10:28 p.m., the victim and her sister called police to report the victim had been sexually and physically assaulted by a friend at the intersection of Lenwood Road and Old Highway 58. Before deputies or medical aid could respond to the location, the victim's sister took the victim to Barstow Community Hospital. Deputies from the Barstow Station met the victim at the hospital where she received treatment.

The victim stated she met with her friend, who she identified as Christopher Martinez, at a market in Lenwood, an unicorporated community just outside the City of Barstow. The victim got into Martinez's car, who then drove her away from the location. During the drive, Martinez punched the victim and stopped the car in a remote area near Lenwood Road and Old Highway 58. Martinez sexualy assaulted the victim and choked her to the point of unconsciousness.

When the victim awoke, she found it difficult to breath and called her sister. Once at the hospital, the medical staff discovered the victim had been stabbed by an unknown object, which caused one of her lungs to collapse. The victim was air lifted to an area trauma center where she was admitted for treatment.

Deputies located Martinez at his house and talked with him. He was later arrested for attempted murder and booked at the Barstow Jail in leiu of $1,000,000 bail.
